why do so many peoples signatures have faulty image tags like the above?

Because when the signatures were transferred over, the program decided to drop the first character of everyone's sig. When an image tag was the first thing in the sig, the first [ was dropped, nullifying the tag.  Just go to your Profile tab at the top, and add in the missing character, and the sig will work.

i honestly thought it was a joke played out by a mod at first, and yeah, thats what it said.

i suggested someone remake the asmodean thread so that all main aspects were addressed in the first post, and ideas were less likely to be repeated.

they probably closed it so that the updater didnt have to bother with continous increasing amounts of info to sort through

Because I never participated in it, (but everyone knew about it) my suggestion is to ask the Mod if you can restart that thread.  ;)  Don't know if you don't ask. Righ?

*G*

the way i understood it was someone was going to restart the thread, and i figure they probably asked for it to be closed while they gain the majority of the information from it.

but yeah, if it bothers you just ask

Oh its not bothering me, I am just trying to help you find your answers *lol* But, just so that you get the correct info, asking a Mod is the best route.

Basic information for all serious suspects are to be found in the first few posts.

Thing is, new posters rarely bothers to read even page 1, they just skip ahead to the last page and posts whatever bright idea they think they have come up with.

I think it should be a mandatory intiation that a person must have read all posts on the Asmo thread before they are allowed to chip away at their soul and make posts of their own  :o

My first 3 days at Dragonmount were spent on that thread and yeah I have to agree, there is a lot of repeat info (To include my own).  However, the sheer mass of the thread lends itself as a sort of homage to RJ and I personally would hate to see it get chopped up  :'( :'( :'( :'(

Maj, isn't it possible for the board mod to sport that info in a nice siggy? I can make one for whoever needs it. That way its carried forward all the time.

A siggy advertizing just that one thread? Thanks, but I kinda like the one I've got.

I am however poking around at another, absolutely brilliant idea that's been floating around in my head for a while. Just need to get a bit more settled down, since I right now pretty much live in a fortress of boxes. Moving sucks, until you're all nicely set up.

Well, I wasn't suggesting that you get rid of the one you have. Adding another in a rotation sig sorta like mine, with one addition. That way you keep the one you have as well.

For a personal sig we have the request thread on the main board. Just trying to help.

This has got to be a frequently asked questions but I cannot find an answer:

Does the world of WOT have a name like, say Middle Earth or MidEarth or Shannarra or Narnia?

I suppose they would call it "Earth", like we do. There are regions large countries and Continents that have names: Shara, the Borderlands, Seanchan.

The unique thing about the main continent where things are taking place is that there are rather huge stretches of unclaimed or contested lands. There are huge swaths of uninhabited or lightly inhabited lands. Caralain Grass for example (not sure the spelling...).

Countries that are established have lands though, and you can pretty much refer to a region by the dominating country that resides there, or its geographical signifigcance.

Borderlands is the North. Altara lies in the southern coast.

The big unifying characteristic of the region is the fact that Tar Valon has influence in just about every corner of the continent. Aes Sedai are a dominent part of the culture and they hold a power structure that generally affects the whole of the continent.

If you wanted to call the place something, I would probably call it something in the Old Tongue that represents the Aes Sedai, or maybe comething that mentions Dragonmount, the grave of the Dragon...which happens to be the birthplace for Rand.

I'll ask the Old Tongue scholars to play with that.

I have heard tell that people less familiar with WoT even call it RandLand. So, it might be a stretch to call it something else. Besides that chore would have been RJ's. If I recall, he has referred to the place where his characters live, as Randland as well.

;)
