Neatly she folded up the contents into the woven brown basket. Slowly for a moment running over her small list Blanket... stickybuns..  Small glass jars.. soft towels... double cheking to ensure that all was where it should be, the woman smiled. It had been far too long since she had seen such a day as today, and it was time for for a more positive ingagement that was not filled with the dealings of Politics or the like. There was little doubt that she had ever seen such an event held, but a Picnic on the Tower grounds would be absolutly perfect for today. She had even had the luck to find a travelling Bard that was on his way to southern shores of Mayene that had been willing to join thier small event just earilier that morning.

The day would be perfect. Suu smiled. It just felt that way.

Picking up her basket, Suu headed out of her room towards th outer cloisters of the Tower. There was a beautiful area there for those of the Tower and the Yards, even visiting commoners and nobles, would be welcome to large blankets of food and spiced wine. As Novices and Accepteds had a free day today, Suu had little doubt she would also see them there as well.

Megain walked down into her one of her favourite places in Tar Valon, a wide grassed space that was perfect for picnics. Her mood was oddly jubilant. Despite the hard work of recent weeks, she was feeling happy for the first time in what seemed like years.

She got to the edge of the grassed space and stared in surprise. There was already someone there, a White Aes Sedai that she didn't recognise.

Normally Megain would turn tail and bolt for the hills at the sight of an Aes Sedai on her freeday. She was all too aware of the habit some Aes Sedai had of disregarding freedays completely and sending unlucky Novices to work regardless. But as she stood there, something happened. A strange feeling of confidence and - there was no other way to describe it - luckiness welled up in her chest. Her back straightened, her head lifted, and she walked down to the Aes Sedai, stopping and curtseying respectfully about a metre from where the White was sitting.

"Aes Sedai?" she ventured. "May I join you?"

Speaking before she was spoken to! A heinous crime. But oddly enough, Megain felt sure that she would not be punished for it.

Jagen stepped back as her new horse nodded its head vigorously, giving a small whinny. Before coming to the Tower, before even working in the palace in Tanchico, she owned horses and took care of them everyday. She was glad to have one again, though one she didn't have to take care of herself. She smiled and rubbed the animal's nose. It was a brown horse with black hair and black legs, a white blaze going down its face. She had yet to chose a name. The Aes Sedai took off the horse's reigns and handed them to the stable boy before feeding the horse a salt cube. Then she left to wash up after that first lovely ride.

Jagen was enjoying the day and she headed inside only long enough to change into a dark red Taraboner gown and wash her face and hands. Sweeping her long braids behind her shoulders and making sure her veil was on tight, she picked up her shawl with its long red fringe and placed it carefully on her shoulders. Still fairly new by a couple months, she still wore it almost daily.

Jagen knew it was a freeday and was rather grateful for it too. Of course it didn't matter as much any more but she was grateful for the break of learning new weaves--those known only to the Red Ajah--and her Ajah duties. She walked outside to the area where this big picnic was being held. She did not bring anything herself; Jagen did not plan on staying too long to fiddle and eat. But she did like to see the visitors, more the nobles than the common people.  To be admired as the Aes Sedai she was--that would make her day go very well indeed.

A free day. Melianna had only had one before, and she used that one to socialize. Not today. Today had a special purpose. She left her room and ascended the stairs from the novice galleries. Hardly a person in sight. Everyone would be outside on this gloriously beautiful day, but she didn't care. It didn't matter right now. It was the library for her.

"Good-day, Aes Sedai" Melianna said cheerfully with a curtsey to the Brown Sister in the library. "Might you be able to show me where to find books on the Sea Folk?"

"The Atha'an Miere? There are few books on them. Follow me." the slender Brwon said as she scurried off down a hallway. Melianan followed her down a row of slightly dusty books and stopped near the end. "Here is all our books on the Atha'an Miere. Please be careful with them, as many are very old."

"Thank you, Aes Sedai", Melianna said half-absently as she opened a book and sat down on the floor with it. She scanned the pages eagerly.

The afternoon was half over and Melianna was getting very tired and very hungry. She had been here reading since the early morning. She turned a page and saw 6 scetches of tatoos. Her eyes lit up. She examined the drawings, and then examined the one on her right hand. It took a few cross-checks, but she finally saw one that matched hers, line for line. She looked under it, and saw the name Rossaine, the clan along the Aryth Ocean and Tremalking. She beamed with pride. She knew who she was! She ran out of the libary and ran to the courtyard and started yelling,

"I'm a Rossaine!!!!"

She ran over to Suzaku Sedai and gave her a flying hug. "I'm a Rossaine" she said running off jumping and skipping and gigling with joy.

Very emotional Novice

It was a pleasant and quiet start to the day as Suu started to arrange various plate and treats arrayed on the picnic blanket. Adjusting the folds of her light white and purple silk Dress, she was approached at first by a Novice with a neat curtsey.

"Aes Sedai?" she ventured. "May I join you?"

"Megain, correct?" The girl nodded. Suu grinned. "Please do! Help yourself to whatever you like. And no need for formalities today." Suu smiled warmly. Rare for even her, but today just felt wonderful. About to ask a question but then destracted by a passing Red Sister, she was then tackled by anouther rather exuberant Novice.

"I'm a Rossaine!!!!"

Suu smiled warmly. It would have made Lillian proud. "So you are. Would you like to celebrate here? There are lots of snacks for you to eat."

"Jagen Sedai!"  Suu called to the young Red. She barely knew her name as it was, but since her arrival back at the Tower Suu had gone out of her way to learn all the new and older Aes Sedai still within the Tower. "Come Join us. There is plenty here!"

Turning to the two Novices. "How are you girls finding the Tower? Lessons are hard, I remember well. But anything you like?"
