What has Shadar Logoth to do with cleansing the Taint?

Featured Replies

Sorry for posting more questions that have surely been covered before, but I'm in the middle of a reread and I can't find the answers...

What exactly is the link between destroying the evil in Shadar Logoth and the cleansing of the Taint?

Thank you for your infinite patience.

Q:I was wondering, how did Rand stop the taint by channeling at Shadar Logoth because you said the taint and the evil at Shadar Logoth are different. Also, because Shadar Logoth came well after the taint, was there any way to stop it?

RJ:No, there was no way to stop it or make it weaker (the SL evil). But when Rand made the conduit, they were attracted to each other due to opposite polarities, and they were attracted to each other and destroyed each other because of those differences, and it created a huge explosion.

Well, keep in mind that the evil in SL came from taking opposing the Shadow to the extreme.

Not to high-jack the thread, but the question I have is related to the Cleansing and the the taint.

So basically, from what I read here, Rand made conduit of saidar and forced saidin through it. Now the taint more or less floated on top of saidin, they were not mixed. Did Rand channel all of saidin? Can it be done? Or he didn't need to?

He channeled enough of Saidin to set the taint in motion. Which means a lot, but far from all of it. I do not think that would be possible.
