Go, and wake.

A spiralling rush as if spinning through time landed her harshly in bed. Eyes flying open, she sucked in a great gasp of air and would have cried out with the pain that gripped her chest if she’d had strength to do so. Thankful to be alive. Thankful to be in her bed and away from the horror from whence she came. Shaneevae tried fruitlessly to move, her arm useless at her side and her body throbbing in excruciating pain. How would she ever call out for help?  Her breathing was shallower than a plate. Making a sound that would travel through the thick walls of her quarters was beyond her ability even if she could grasp Saidar right now.

Through a bloodied gaze, she noted the room was softly lit with the gray of morning light.  Soon. Soon the novice will come to tidy my rooms. Looking from the corner of her eye, she could see the blood pooled and spreading out from her hand. Damn. If I don’t bleed to death first. She rolled her head back to stare at the ceiling working diligently to control her breathing.  Something wasn’t right. A gurgle in the back of her throat left her with a choking feeling almost as if she were drowning. Broken ribs had surely damaged something internally.

Deciding that if she waited on the novice to appear she may be dead and Light forbid she die in her own bed.  Shaneevae wouldn’t have it. Stilling her reserve, she tried to drag herself to the edge  with her good arm and punctured hand. Pain came in such waves that nausea roiled in her stomach and sweat broke out upon her forehead. With one more lurch, pain sent shockwaves through her body and a welcoming blackness enveloped her consciousness.

She wasn’t aware of how long had passed, but she was roused by the blood curdling scream of the Child.  Shaneevae winced and raised her head from the mattress only slightly.  “Yellow.”  She murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. “Now Child. Run.”

It happened often enough but it surprised her every time.  A child, skidding into the infirmary as if someone were dieing.  Zalena caught the girl's arm before she could raise an alarm.  A novice, and by the looks of her new to it as well.    "What is it Child?" She asked, a little short but if it was a real problem she had need and if it wasn't, the child would get more than a short tongue from her.

Light, but there were days when she felt her 130 years.  Or perhaps it was just the drink from the night before.  Or the lack of sleep.  But she'd always said there were far better ways to spend the dark hours of the night and she'd managed to find a nice someone to waste the sleeping hours with.  What was his name?  She shook her head of the thought and looked at the novice.

"Shaneevae Sedai.  I was going to her rooms to help and she's hurt.  There was blood and..."

"Show me the way child."  Zalena was out the door of the infirmary and pulling the girl after her.  A brown sister, but where she was located in the Brown's halls was a mystery to her.  She just hoped the girl could hold her wits together well enough to show her the right room.  "Come on now.  Show me her quarters and i'll take care of everything else." She tried to be reassuring.  "And tell me what you saw as we walk."

"She was in bed still, and there was blood."

No matter what else the Saldean tried to get out of the girl those were the only things that had registered.  That the Brown Sister was still conscious at the time was a good sign.  She just hoped she still was when they got there.  She hurried the novice along and didn't bother with even a single knock at the door.  Instead she went running in to find the Aes Sedai in bed just as the novice had told her.  "Stay here Child in case I need you."  the words were spoken over her shoulder as she moved next to the Brown Sister.

"Shaneevae?  It's Zalena.  Are you still with me?" She asked.  Open eyes but she needed to make sure what was happening before she just threw herself in.  "Can you tell me what happened?"  Even as she asked she opened herself to the One Power and began to work the weaves that would allow her to delve the other Sedai.

Straining to swallow the thick substance lingering in the back of her throat, she moaned laying her cheek against the coolness of the bed sheets. Light, she wished the Novice would hurry back with help.  Shaneevae could feel darkness closing in around her pupils like walking through a tunnel with only a single point of light at the end. It was disconcerting to say the least, as was the blood oozing from the palm of her hand, all hot and sticky.  The coppery smell strong in her nostrils, so strong she could almost taste it.

She was getting so sleepy, but sleep was the last thing she wanted right now.  Fear gripped her mercilessly and her heart began to pound with the memories. Oh Light, she couldn’t sleep. She could never sleep again and face that monster. How would she ever be able to sleep again?

Footsteps.

She heard footsteps. Blessed Creator.

Shaneevae?  It's Zalena.  Are you still with me?

It was difficult to pull her focus to the woman speaking to her, an effort to anything close at hand.

Can you tell me what happened?

Shaneevae felt like crying, but the energy to do so was absent, she coughed weakly.  Her breathing shallow and there was little power to her voice, “Dream………monster.” She closed her eyes and searched for the strength to explain the unbelievable. If she had not been there, had not felt his claws rip at her face or the felt the water fill her lungs she would not believe it herself.

“Water….drowning.” She was choking as if she were still inhaling the fluid evil.  A coughing fit seized her shaking her shoulders and causing her brain to rattle inside her head, she wheezed out, “Can’t sleep. No.” And with those words spoken, she succumbed to the welcoming blackness.

The scene was bizarre enough without having the Brown Sister talking about dreams and drowning. So was the prognosis.  Zalena took a deep breath as she began the healing process.  The damage was fixable but she was glad the other sister had gone to sleep when she had.  She wasn't sure she would have been able to concentrate enough on the healing with her talk of monsters.  Something was obviously disturbing the other woman and Zalena wasn't the type to turn a blind eye to it.

When the wounds were cared for, as strange as they were, Zalena had the Brown Sister taken discretely to the infirmary and sat by her side waiting for signs that the woman was awake.  She continued to delve her periodically to make sure there were no more wounds, nothing to come back and hurt her.  it was pointless really since she knew she'd done everything she could, but it helped pass the time as she waited.

It is on most occasions that her entrance through the Great Gates that lead into the White Tower. More often than not she would enter through the Warders entrance a few miles from the main entrance. One formerly of the Tower ranks, she was not welcome among her 'peers'. Burnt out Aes Sedai never were. And vice versa.

It nearly made her laugh. However the situation was far from humorous and time was precious. Very very precious. Moments perhaps. Precious moments that slipped away as she knew the Aes Sedai would be healed. The Aes Sedai was familiar, so very familiar, but even her own memory slipped away from the times past. A brown was all she could recall, but a name was lost to her. Why had the last years in the Tower been spend so far away or in the Yards? Maybe a name would come far more easily to her than this shrouded mist of questions.

"Ch.. Novice." Her voice spoke as a young girl no more than a year or two in the Novice White. Good. The younger the fewer questions. "Take this to the Infirmary. There will be a Brown Sister that has just been submitted with sever injury. You must get this to her as quickly as you could. Go."

The novice looked at her wide eyed before Arie snapped. "Go, child before I send you to the Mistress of Novices for your tardiness." With a slight -eep- the child ran towards the Tower without looking back as Arie watched from just within the Tower Gates. Praying the Aes Sedai was still okay. That her secret was not yet revealed. A Dreamwalker.. Light. Anouther Dreamwalker.

The Wheel of Time was turning and Arie knew that the last battle would be upon them. She spent enough years watching the Pattern. Keeping her varied contacts and E&E's. Talents of the last Ages surfacing more and more meant that the Pattern required it of them. Light.. if the Pattern required them, to what end would they be able to survive?

Unaware, intimidated and unsure of herself, the novice delivered the message to a Yellow sister other than Zalena. The sister with only the health and well being of their patient in mind dismissed the novice and then tucked the unread message into the Brown sister’s belongings left there to be forgotten.  Forgotten until discovered by chance, discovered too late and she was well beyond the walls of Tar Valon.

From utter darkness, she rushed headlong into the light; her eyes popped open wide, clear, and coherent. Shaneevae stretched long and full. Her body no longer aching nor her lungs burning, she looked around. Realizing she no longer lay in her own bed, she concluded that her new resting place was the Tower’s infirmary, not a place she was familiar with and not a place she intended to stay for very long. Gingerly, she dropped her legs over the side of the bed testing out her sea legs. They felt solid and with her feet firmly planted on the ground, she stood. Raising her hand to her face, she turned it over studying the palm then rotating it to study the backside. Pink smooth skin had grown over where the gaping whole had been.

Now where are my things?

Shaneevae surveyed the room in search of her clothing or the most likely place they would be. The most obvious place would be the trunk at the foot of the bed and hurriedly, she threw back the lid to find only her dressing gown.  In frustration she called out, “Hello. Hello, is anyone about?”

An Aes Sedai appeared and while she looked familiar Shaneevae could not place her.  In a rush, she spoke quickly, “Thank you for your care, but I must get…”  Shaneevae looked around as if the walls were closing in on her, “out of here.”

“Would you be so kind……” A sudden bout of dizziness assaulted her and she swayed slightly grabbing the bed to steady the spinning.  Sitting upon the edge, she spoke much slower, “as to send a novice after my things?”

Doesn't like hospitals

OOC: Try to convince her to stay, try to find out what happened, but in the end Shan will leave the infirmary and Zalena will only be able to guess at what happened..  Maybe Zalena will make a deal with her. As long as she rests and an Accepted keeps watch over her sleep then she can leave. Stuff her dressing gown and the note, unbeknownst to us both, into a satchel.  She'll find it later.  This all doesn't have to happen in the next post though. LOL

Zalena watched as the Brown Sister tried to get up.  She recognized the light headed feeling the other had and smiled softly at the request for her things.  Why was it that Aes Sedai were almost all, unable to rest and heal properly?  They were worse then men most of the time.  At least they could be lured back to bed with the right insinuations.  She doubted it would work on the Brown Sister though.  Even flirting with her seemed far fetched.  of course, there had been a good deal of trauma to her last night so it was no wonder.

She took a deep breath as she regarded the Sister.  "I can have something nicer brought in for you to wear, but as i'm sure you're aware, you're not quite ready to walk out of the infirmary just yet.  I took a great deal of care to heal you and I don't like to see that wasted.  Unless you have a pressing appointment with the Amyrlin Seat herself, I think whatever it is can wait."
