In light of a few recent changes that have yet to be published publically I have had the need to revise the Warder Advancement System.  There is a reason for this change but there are certain negotiations still under way that may affect the reason behind it.  However, I think it's time for a change and the advantages of the system out weight the only consequence of this change.

So in Summary:

Advantages for new system:

1.  You are raised to full RP status quicker

2.  Second and third characters start at full status

3.  Trainees get more choice in their requirements

Disadvantages for new system:

1.  *To be posted at a later date after negotiations*

Character Creation:

For first character a WS of 0 to 4 is given based on the bio.

For second and third characters a WS of 6 is given at bio creation.  When creating a character please include Philosophy, and your three weapon choices.

Trainee:  WS 0 – WS 6

0-1 – 1 requirement fulfilled

1-2 – 1 requirement fulfilled

2-3 – 1 requirement fulfilled

3-4 – 1 requirement fulfilled

4-5 – 1 requirement fulfilled

5-6 – Tower Guard Essay

Tower Guard: WS 6 – WS 11

6-7 – Tower Guard Ceremony

7-8 – 1 requirement fulfilled

8-9 – 1 requirement fulfilled

9-10 – 1 requirement fulfilled

10-11 – 2 requirements fulfilled

Defender: WS 11 – WS 15

11-12 – 2 requirements fulfilled

12-13 – 2 requirements fulfilled

13-14 – 2 requirements fulfilled

14-15 – Blademaster Ceremony & 1 requirement fulfilled

Master: WS 15 – WS 18

15-16 – 2 requirements fulfilled

16-17 – 3 requirements fulfilled

17-18 – Grand master spar & 3 requirements fulfilled

Grand Master: WS 18 – WS 20

18-19 – Staff approval and 4 requirements fulfilled

19-20 – Staff approval and Hand, Head and Heart

You will notice that to become a Tower Guard has been decreased to a WS of 6.  However at this time you must still be a WS of 8 to bond to an Aes Sedai.  This may change in the near future.

In the posts following you will find the requirements for each of the sections.  Three requirements are needed to complete the information.  One of them has already been provided and is title: Advanced Survival.  If you have any suggestions please post them.

These changes take affect immediately.  It will take me a little while to figure out how to update our current database to reflect these changes.  So please disreguard rank and use the WS as a guide.

If you are currently at WS 6 or above I need your Philosphy and 3 weapon choices.  Please send them to both Eqwina and myself at both email address here: warders.staff@gmail.com and warders.mot@gmail.com.  Thank you.

Trainee:  WS 0 – WS 6

0-1 – 1 requirement fulfilled (will know Basic movements and be physically fit at completion)

1-2 – 1 requirement fulfilled (will know their philosophy of choice at completion)

2-3 – 1 requirement fulfilled (will know Basic Forms at completion)

3-4 – 1 requirement fulfilled (will have basic survival skills at completion)

4-5 – 1 requirement fulfilled (will know Intermediate Forms at completion)

5-6 – A Road of Their Own

Mandatory

1. Fumbling in the Dark - Student becomes lost in Tar Valon and must find way to the Mistress of Trainees. Student will have to fend for himself/ herself for one night before entering the Warders Yards. A student from Tar Valon could enroll because he or she knows the way in Tar Valon. The idea behind this RP is that you start making friends and get used to the Yards.

- must encounter at least one other PC

- is assigned to a room and mentor

- minimum of 6 posts for entire RP

- This should be your first RP

2. A Road of Their Own - In order to complete this requirement you are required to write an essay of at least 300 words that describe your characters fighting style, the reasons for choosing their philosophy (void or spring) and their three weapons of choice. Please send your essay to warders.mot@gmail.com

Note: Sending to the Division Leader (warders.staff@gmail.com) is used in case the Mistress of Trainees is on leave of absence. Always send to both to be on the safe side.

Choice

1. Finding a Light - Will be assigned a task requiring the student to display and practice what skills he/ she has already acquired (or lack thereof). Think of wielding a weapon, taking care of it and showing how much knowledge you have, or how much knowledge you lack.

- will choose primary weapon if student has not already done so

- will describe past weapons experience

- will discuss the expectations of a student in the Warders Yards

- minimum 8 posts for entire RP

2. New Roads to Travel - Student will encounter two other members of the Warders Division and a conflict will arise. Student must respond.

- will either fight, flee, or resolve the conflict

- minimum 10 posts for entire RP

3. Road Rules - In this role- play, the student will encounter an Aes Sedai and must do a task for her. While doing the assigned task, student will be given another task by his/ her mentor which conflicts with the first task. These tasks can be to deliver a message, to clean up, to help someone, to go on an errand. You can think of a task and discuss this with your mentor. The involvement of an actual Aes Sedai is up to you, it does help you to work with the WT and to get to know Aes Sedai, but you can also say that you got the errand and do the RP with your mentor.

- will either obey mentor, Aes Sedai, both, or neither

- minimum 12 posts for entire RP

4. On the Open Road - Mentor will take student on a trip beyond the walls of Tar Valon on a minor assignment. But all will not go smoothly. Student will be separated from mentor for no less than two days and one night. Should coordinate RP with at least one other Division. The coordination can be done with help from Staff, the idea is that you choose a place to go and the people you’d like to see involved. If you find it difficult to address other divisions, or can’t find anyone to help you are allowed to have a TPC involved. But first talk to the MoT or someone on staff to help you out. We’re all DM members who love to write, so there is no need to think you can’t ask for help and start a great RP.

- with the assistance of mentor, student will plan RP

- must encounter at least two other PCs (as a last resort these can be TPC, with explicit permission from MoT first)

- minimum 16 posts for entire RP

5. The Road Splits - Mentor and student will be sent on another, more important mission. Mission can range anywhere from delivering a message to protecting a noble from assassins, but RP must allow for the student to prove himself or herself capable of operating without the guidance of a mentor. The mentor will help the trainee in planning this RP, he or she is not required to play a part in the RP itself. That is up to the two of you and to how you want to fill in this requirement.

- with assistance of mentor, student will plan RP

- must include at least three other PCs

- minimum of 20 posts for entire RP

6. Elective 1 – choose any of the classes provided by the Warders to complete a requirement

7. Elective 2 – choose any of the classes provided by the Warders to complete a requirement may not be the same requirement as Elective 1.

Defender: WS 11 – WS 15

11-12 – 2 requirements fulfilled

12-13 – 2 requirements fulfilled

13-14 – 2 requirements fulfilled

14-15 – Blademaster Ceremony & 1 requirement fulfilled

Mandatory:

1. Blademaster Ceremony - There are two ways in which one can become a Blademaster.

I. A Circle of five Blademasters gather together to determine whether or not the “applicant” is worthy. One of the five Blademasters MUST be a PC (or NSW) not played by the “applicant”. One of the five Blademasters, (may be an NPC) will challenge the “applicant” to a duel with real weapons to determine the character’s worth in front of the circle. The applicant does not have to win but the council must agree unanimously that that “applicant” is worthy to be deemed blademaster. (This version of the ceremony requires 2 PCs)

To make things interesting you may choose to not be found worthy on your first try. You can try multiple times for character develompent purposes.

II. You may also become a Blademaster by slaying another Blademaster. This MUST be approved by the RP Coordinator, Division Leader and the MaA or Commander and you may not kill any of the division specific Blademasters provided. This is a rare occurrence as an accident will not deem you Blademaster it must be a worthy fight and must be witnessed by one other person in the division who is “trustworthy” ICly. (This version of the ceremony requires 3 PCs)

A Tower Guard or Warder cannot reach a higher WS without completing the BladeMaster Ceremony.

2. Leadership. The character must make a difficult choice between the good of the many over the good of the few. Which way will they go? Clearly state the consequences of such an action and how it will affect your character in the future. Minimum 5 posts.

3. Wake-up Call - organize an RP outside the city of Tar Valon. This RP will be heavily designed around your Path choice and the skills associated with it. You will go on an extensive training session in order to improve your skills. Where will you go? How do you rate your skills? Against yourself or foes? (RP outline must be approved by Staff) Minimum 2 threads and 5 total posts in each thread.

Choice:

1. Longest Yard - You will organize a RP that is a day-long event in which you will a strong character interaction with other PCs (must be another player or players). Make sure to include Path and Discipline interaction. Minimum 5 posts.

2. Betrayal - The character should experience betrayal by a friend or other trusted person. This roleplay should show how the character reacts to this and how it changes them in the future. Do they become closed off to others fearing it will happen again or do they develop another coping strategy? Minimum 5 posts.

3. Punishment - Your character catches a NPC/PC trainee doing something that is strictly forbidden which requires them to be punished. It’s your duty to see them punished by the MoT. Will you? Makes sure to explain why or why not. Minimum 5 posts.

4. Cunning - You character must place themselves in dangerous situation that their weapon skill will not get them out of. The character must rely on their wits to see them through the event without engaging in arms. How will your chosen Discipline affect the choices you make? Will your Path influence your decision? Minimum 5 posts.

5. Start an Open RP and lure some characters in for a fun RP that you don’t plan for in advance. Just see where it goes. Make at least 2 attempts to attract members and leave the RP open for 2 weeks min.

WS 20 requirement

Required number of posts: 45 total.

Requirement:

• Hand. The Master shows that he or she is in the perfect physical condition for what he or she does. He or she does not have to be the fastest, or the strongest, or the most well balanced, but in this rp the master shows that he or she has a perfect control over his/her body. They show that they don’t just handle the weapon, they are the weapon.

• Head. The master shows that he or she can use their mind as well as he/she can use his/her body. Whether it’s strategy and tactics, plot, or a common game of stones, the master must always be one step ahead, aware of his/her flaws and aware of how he/she can avoid them in any situation. The master shows that he/she can do so in this rp.

• Heart. Courage. Loyalty. Morality. The master has faced all of his/her fears, and has conquered them. Whatever troubled the heart of the master, this rp shows that it is no longer an obstruction on the way to greatness.

How to play this: Any way you want. Make an rp plan for 1, 2, 3, or 8 threads. Get people involved or not. Get approval on your plan, and show staff that your character has the heart, mind and body of a warrior that is the best of the best.

How does this effect 2nd & 3rd Characters that have joined at WS6? What of their training and what has changed for them?

  • Author

They become TGs their training transfers as to what ever they had prior to this change...

ie:  Connor started with a six, if he got his 7 as a trainee requirement, it would transfer to his WS 7 requirement.  The only thing WS of 6 or higher that are trainees under the old system need to do to become TGs is give email the email addresses provided with your philosophy and 3 weapons of choice.

Character Creation:

For first character a WS of 0 to 4 is given based on the bio.

For second and third characters a WS of 6 is given at bio creation.  When creating a character please include Philosophy, and your three weapon choices.

So basically all 2nd and 3rd characters are now full TGs.

The idea was to help the lower ranks out, but now they don't have as far to go so it's not as hard to get full rank.

Mat

Thank you Mat. Looks good.

I got a question, as before reqs already in progress would count for what they normaly did

I got aproved to bring in a second char on ws8 because i never used the slot earned there to create a new full char in replacement, and started her req

You say all secondary chars along with tird are raised, i never asked for ws, said it didnt mather as i intended to play my 3rd as trainee...would this be considered retroing then untill the day i up and descide i am done runing around as trainee...upon which i just could move on from ws 6? (as curently in tread with what i said before the litle i looked on req's i started on point 0)

  • Author

If you want to play a trainee that's fine just when you apply in your bio to indicate that so your bio can be treated like any other new member bio.  I'd rather you not retro unless you absolutely have to but I have no problem with you starting lower than a 6 on another character.

Mat

okey was just what i wondered, cause i did that, just seemed it may change due simplification or something.

  • 4 weeks later...
