Sammael Still Alive?

Well in Knife of Dreams Moridin certainly thinks so, either that, he says, or someone is posing as Sammael. Who thinks it is likely that he is alive?

I mean, when Rahvin or Be'lal got hit with the balefire we KNOW they got hit with it. With Sammael, I believe, Rand assumed he got him but we never actually saw it.

Thoughts?

I thought RJ confirmed that Mashadar had gotten Sammeal?

Sammael is confirmed dead, and not returning by RJ in one of the Q/A or QotWs.

First I was expecting Rand and Sammael to end up in some good blademaster's duel and after his stupid death in A Crown of Swords I was hoping that he'll came back and we may see this battle in the next books.

But now with Rand's physical condition I don't care any more.

And I think there are enough bad guys for the last book.

Well then, who is it that is posing as Sammael? Anyone care to venture a guess?

Is it another Forsaken? Is it Taim? Is it Fain?

Either another forsaken, or Taim if he indeed has become a new forsaken. Not Fain, he could not possibly have ordered such an army.

Well then, who is it that is posing as Sammael?

We only have Moridin's word on this as well: the insane guy who helped Rand when Sammael bought it ;)

I don't know... there were moments in there where Moridin seemed genuinely confused and annoyed.

My vote is that its Taim. The attack matches his MO exactly--blunt tactics are what he does--saving Rand from the Grey Man to win his trust, the attack on Demira, the attack on the Sun Palace. Beyond that we know that three days before then Taim was desperately seeking Rand's whereabouts, and whilst Logain did not give them up, there are sixteen men and 51 Aes Sedai--Aes Sedai who btw pledged to utilizes the chasm between Taim and Logain against them--who could have revealed the location. And thats assuming Taim wasn't smart and doesn't simply have a man amongst Logain's followers.

So, three days, exactly the sort of time it would take to go and order an army of Trollocs, and have them travel through the Ways to tear. Then we have Taim's history of emulating the Chosen. He has Moridin's colours, a design that both Sammael and Be'lal have used, and constantly parrots their catch-phrases like 'so-called Aiel' and 'let the lord of chaos rule'. Beyond that though, to command the Trollocs would reveal that he had a Chosen Mark, so he had to disguise himself. Sammael seems the best option.

Did Richard ever mention his desire to seal/close all of the ways he could find in Taim's hearing?

Did you just confuse Richard Rahl and Rand Al'thor.

... I warn you, you just killed Santa Claus.

Heh, and no he didn't.
