I am so over the jokes about Bella. Bella this, Bella that. she was only ever cool because Rand healed her while they were riding!

 

She's an old horse. Sure, she was Rand's horse, but she's nothing special.

 

I just don't think those jokes are very funny. They're nine kinds of old and twice as many kinds of not funny.

I dunno, worn out jokes are what binds a community together. Eventually the worn-out-ness of the joke becomes a joke in itself, as in [insert obligatory Bela joke here]. And if you keep them around enough someone will occasionally come up with something that will make you go :shock: and make the whole thing worthwhile. The thing is, if you get the same joke in a continuous stream for too long rather than a continual cycle of death and ressurection, it does stop being funny. Maybe it is time for Bela to take a nap.

It'll be possible if in AMoL Egwene wakes up in the Tower to find Bela's severed head bleeding onto her sheets.

Well, when you have a head on your shoulders, you may as well use it. Personally, since he didn't mention it before, I think he wanted to get a head joke in. And really, how can you place blame on someone's head for that?

I also get tired of seeing someone throwing a simple "bela did it" in a serious thread. A witty, thought out on though is different. The thread about bela backing up and sitting on Asmodean was a hoot!

 

In short, only say bela did it if you can be witty and humorous about it. If your just gonna drop a line saying "bela did it" and think that's gonna amuse people, so did about a thousand other people, and it might have been humorous the first time. It was old after that.

I agree that the Bela jokes are worn out, stale, and generally lacking in amusement. I never even found the humour in the first Bela joke I came across, let alone the who knows how many subsequent ones. If people want to have threads dedicated to Bela jokes, that's fine, but they jokes don't belong in threads where people are trying to have serious discussions. The jokes do not add value to those discussions. The are inconsiderate to the people having the discussion by wasting their time and breaking up the thought processes of the people having the discussion.

OK, so leaf wants to ban all references to Bela and Hitler.

Are there any other earth-shakingly important characters out there that any of you would like to ban references to just because you are bored of it? How about Asmodean, because if ever there was a discussion that had not progressed in 5 years it is that one.

Or perhaps no one shoud be allowed to mention Olver and Gaidal Cain in the same sentence. I know I get tired of that :roll:

Theres a fundemental rule for "boards" and "Forums".. I can't recal what its called.. but it basically says that the longer a thread goes on, the likely hood of hitler being mentioned becomes closer to 1. *ratios 1/1 100% ect.*
