Alrighty... so we're working on updating N&A reqs and we need some help from each Ajah.  One of the requirements for an Accepted will be to do an "Ajah Approved RP".  What does this mean?  Well.. you know your Ajah best so we want to know what you think it could mean.  We're looking for something that is general enough that each person can run with it a bit and show their own character, but that really speaks about what your Ajah represents.  It could be something like, a fieldtrip with a Yellow Sister to learn about healing more than just wounds, to witnessing death that can't be healed, to anything that you feel the Yellow Ajah stands for and what an Accepted needs to know before she chooses it.

So come on Yellow Ajah... what do your aspiring Accepted need to know about you?

Focusing on death might be fun and a could be a good RP, but I don't think it'll really encourage an Accepted to join the Yellows  lol

If nothing else, it would make an Accepted feel helpless. I'm sure that as Aes Sedai, they'll pick that bit off. That even though they can do incredible things and heal people, they're not the creator and certainly cannot heal death.

I'm thinking a delving of a pregnant woman would be interesting. Delving comes with experience. You sense things and you need to learn what they mean, as it's not something visible. It's something you percieve. Letting them have a taste of how the presence of a new life feels would be a positive experience. Being able to tell the woman that her baby is healthy, letting her know if it's a boy or a girl, twins or whatnot. Gives a person a sense of achievement.

Is this not something special for Aiel only? Or has this changed before I became DL? :)

I really wouldn't know. I just think the concept of it is good. New Arrival. The baby to the world. The Accepted to the Ajah. I just like the idea.

Whether or not it's doable by Aes Sedai.... I wouldn't know to say. However, when an Aes Sedai delves she has access to everything within the subject's body. And if that subject is with child, an Aes Sedai should sense it and be able to tap into the baby's body as well.

As for the books, when it was done to Elayne (I think) it was done by Aiel, yes. But that doesn't necessarily mean it's an exclusive weave of the Aiel. Perhaps it is so, perhaps not. However, delving would definitely pick up on someone being pregnant, in my opinion.

So I've asked Raeyn about this, since she seems to be really good at remebering things from the books. It appears that the Caressing the Child Weave is indeed used by the Aiel. It doesn't say so specifically, but it seems like that the weave is indeed exclusive for the Aiel. Though, Elayne did see the weave, so perhaps in the future it will be spread over to Aes Sedai as well.

However, Raeyn also mentioned that Elayne describes the weave like delving, but a bit different. So, after playing with the idea a bit.... Raeyn and I have reached a nice conclusion about the difference between the weave and delving.

Through delving you can sense that a woman is with child and sense the baby's physical state. If he's injured, he can be healed, because in a way the baby is a part of the mother, in that phase. However, the baby's weight, its sex and the progress of its growth and development CANNOT be determind by delving.

So say a pregnant woman falls and the blow bruises the baby. That can be detected and healed by delving. But say a baby is deformed, it cannot be detected through delving because it's not an injury.

So, to conclude, delving does not determine with full certainty that the baby will be born healthy (or rather 'normal' like). Caressing the Child, does.

That's what made sense to us, at least.

So if you agree with this, we can change a bit my idea. Perhaps healing a woman who broke her leg, for instance, and then while the Accepted does that she senses that the woman is with child and breaks the news to her (the woman would not be aware, obviously). That's also a nice concept and pretty close to what I first intended.

That works for me. I had just read about that myself, but i'm compacting a lot of book information into my head at once and it was a bit befuddled. :P

Keep brain storming girls. :)

I agree that witnessing something like that could be good for an Accepted.  What if we took it a little further though.  A fieldtrip out to the villages surrounding Tar Valon where the Yellow Sister could work among the people and heal whatever comes up?  It could be anything from injury to just talking to someone who was grieving and needed emotional healing...  it would let us show healing on a broader scale than just someone helping out in the infirmary...

Sure. That can work too. I just personally love things that symbolize something. But showing Accepted how much their help would be needed if they choose to join the Yellow is also a positive way of showing'em what the yellows are about.

Either way seems okay to me.

We could always make it a twist at the end of each rp :P  They go out, see what we do, then at the end they are asked to look at someone and then finds something really good to tell them. Pregnancy, an injury fixed that they didn't think they would be able to... something like that..

Yellows heal all the time. That's what they do. This kind of RP, though, needs to be a bit more than that, me thinks. Something symbolic or out of the ordinary so it would stand out when it comes to our usual healing RPs. Otherwise it might become a bit boring.

Maybe healing a little child or baby. Maybe even an animal, like a puppy. Maybe the Accepted comes across an injured person that happens to be a childhood friend or somehow from her family.... there are tons of possiblity. It's obvious that healing will be part of the RP, but the specifics should also be determind.

Edit: Another thought that crossed my mind is maybe the Accepted actually wittnesing the accident in which someone gets injured. And then healing him/her. Makes it more of a powerful experience when you actually see the accident itself. Or if it's an attemp to murder someone.

OH.... I really like the idea of them witnessing something and they get to heal it or go for help and become a part of the healing process.

The thing is....that there must be an Aes Sedai present because from what I understand, an Accepted is not allowed to heal on her own, correct? O_o

But...if the person is dying.....(from the accident, assasination attempt or whatnot) then I guess that the Accepted would be compelled to at least try, even if an Aes Sedai isn't present.

So we can do it both ways. The proper way, with an Aes Sedai present and instructing the Accepted. Or an Accepted taking a leap of faith. However...if the injury is serious, I don't see an Aes Sedai letting an Accepted expirament on a patient.... LOL

But yeah, we can work on developing the idea, so the scenerio makes sense.

There is the possibility of linking if the Aes Sedai is unable to do it alone. This way the Accepted gets to experience the Aid first hand but not being fully relied upon for the weave itself. :)

Although something like that would most likely be away from the Tower, unless it was an extreme emergency in the Infirmary and there were no other Aes Sedai on hand. :)

Just a thought. ^-^

I like the idea of linking with an Accepted so they can see the weaves and give them a feeling of helping in the process.

Sorry for the delay. I was on a little LOA. I think they all sound like fun ideas. The best way to learn is to do. I think being able to be involved in the healing process(ie. linking) will speak to them the most!
