He died.  I know Birgitte calls him 'horn sounder' but he did die when he was hanged.  We haven't seen the horn since then, so do we know whether or not he's really still bound to it, or it to him?

 

Just an idle thought, not really sure it makes a difference anyway most people would look past it because he's alive, but meh!

that's not the source of the 'Mat/Horn' dispute.  the big issue is was he counted as dead after he got killed by rahvin, but was brought back by rand's balefire

That's interesting.  I seem to remember him dying when he was hanged, I guess I remembered wrong, it's been a really long time.  I thought that was the to die and live again... maybe I just connected the two in my head where they shouldn't have been :)

If Mat had died from the hanging, then Rand's CPR would not have brought him back.
