I read that book years ago, the first time Kat linked to it and I was enthralled.  Ok, amused and entertained.

 

I think a movie might not capture its insanity.

The same dude that directed Bubb Ho Tep is directing this. Wong actually had other offers and choose him over the others.

I never heard of it. Is it any good

John Dies at the End or Bubba Ho Tep?  JDatE is so funny.  I read the sequel and was disappointed.

You didn't like the sequel? Really? How can you not like a novel that includes the line "Remember, these are children. Aim low."?  And Nedroid illustrated it!

The story was shorter and it didn't have me laughing until I hurt.  It just wasn't as much fun.

Jesus painted on black velvet flying around and shooting lasers out of his eyes didn't make you laugh? You're a strange, strange man.

 

But yeah, it was less...totally insane than the original.  Though from comments Wong has made on his forums, I think its only the first part of a much longer work.

 

Oh, and John started working on his version of the original story about a year ago. I doubt he'll get much further than this, since he likes to start big projects and never finish them, but the first six pages are here. I'm not saying it didn't make me laugh, I just didn't think the story was that good.  I'm an English major, what do you expect?

 

But John's version was looking pretty good.  I hope he finishes it.

I'm on the Epilogue of JDatE.  I can't even express properly how I feel about it.
