Q TGH

Featured Replies

In tgh lan tells rand that moiraine needs to be alone sometimes, what is this about? Why put it in the book if it is just a case of needeing to clear her head type thing. Sry if this has been asked before but i cant find the thread pls link if ther is 1. Or answer. Thanks in advance

In TGH Moiraine is ignoring Rand on purpose. She wants him to believe he is free of her and that he can go anywhere he wants. Lan even mentions in the beginning why Rand hasnt left yet. IMO i always thought she was trying to make him feel that he needs her.

he was trying to make him feel that he needs her.

I thought that she was actually trying to reduce pressure on Rand and make him think that he can do as he chooses. She did tell the Amyrlin that 'he may bolt in any direction other than the one we want' so I think she was trying to reduce the stress on him so that he doesnt jump to foolish conclusions due to the feeling of being threatened by Aes Sedai.

It's a little bit of both--she states that he comes from stubborn blood, and that he would dig his heels in if he felt a halter, or bolt, but she's also playing on abandonment because she needs him to need her, yet she doesn't want him to know how desperate she is for him.

It's rather like dating really. Playing hard to get to arouse interest, and not wanting to come on too strong to avoid freaking them out and making them run..
