It was time for Corwin to go. The Yard, like always, had gotten too confineing for him. He needed some adventure. He left a note for his daughter tell her he was leaving, but he didn't care for anyone particularly beyond that.

 

As he rode his rose away, Corwin looked back on the Yard and wondered if he was ever going to come back again.
