When it happens in German, it's a compound word. From what I've seen of Klingon, it just happens. Usually with the letter Q.

But Q was cool. Annoying...but he had cool powers....

Q was too cool, which is why they completely ruined him by porting him over to Voyager so they could continue to use him.

They just needed a few extra episodes probably, and thought..."Why not bring Q back?!"
