Specifically to the promotional art for "The Last Laugh", where Joker was under the impression that he was terminally ill and decided to take everyone out with him. Damned if I can recall who actually drew it, though.

Oh I didn't actually read it - I was only reading a couple of titles at the time, and none of them were DC. I just remember the promotional art.

God, Frank Miller needs his head kicked in so badly after that.

He will change into the Batman costume, turn to one of the people that know him... and still talk in that gravelly voice that I would assume is to hide his voice... And I really just don't like him... period.

The retention of the voice makes sense if you keep in mind that Batman has long been written where he sort of assumes a different state of mind when in costume, and the voice is part of it.
