Nice to see Hunkander Skarsgård in this series as well. Like the guy said "It's not gay if he's a vampire" ;D

WRONG...that's just what 'straight' guys tell themselves to feel more secure in their masculinity...tee hee ;D

The dog is important... and if you go back and really look for all the hints you can probably put it together.  I mean they are being blatant about it.

I am going to introtext what I mean if you really want to know.  I won't tell you straight out what it means, just gather the clues for you.

Collie showing up and trying to protect Sookie. - in the books

Collie picture on the wall in someone's place. - not in the books

Barking and twitching in their sleep. - not in the books

Collie coming up and licking someone in the face. - not in the books

Ok...still loving this show...and can I just say, it's nice to see a VERY rare occurance in portrayal of gays on TV (thanks Alan Ball...we love ya) because when Lafayette stepped up to those guys in the bar my heart swelled with pride...he may be a dick, but he's a dick that can take care of himself.

The only other gay character I can think of that was portrayed with as much realistic sensibility as that was Keith on Six Feet Under (again...thanks Alan Ball).

Lafayette is cool. He is one of the funniest character on the show imo. I laughed my ass off when he made Jason dance in front of the camera.

I'm still not getting the whole dog thing. I thought that one of the characters was some kind of shapeshifter maybe, but they were in the same shot together if I recall correctly.

After Empy mentioned something about that I went to Wikipedia (yes I cheated) and looked it up.  If you look up the name Sookie Stackhouse, it gives a lot of information about her from the books, including explaining the dog.  If you really want to be spoiled check it out here (under the heading Living Situation):

I've been watching this series, at least the first 4-5 episodes online. (VERY TOUGH to find...)

Its definately interesting, but DAMN its like its trying to be soft-core-porn. ;)

Oh, and Alm, theres a gay guy in Lost to you know!

Its only briefly mentioned, and the guy mysteriously dies the next episode, so yea.... ;)

LMAO...figures...at least we were represented...no matter how briefly.

*laughs* Lafayette is freakin' awesome. The good news is that he's pretty awesome in the books, too. At least, the first one... I haven't gotten my hands on the others (I will, though). I don't think I've laughed so hard as I did when he stepped up to those guys in the bar.

And I'm glad Eric is yummy, too. I was worried they'd go too Viking with him...

*sighs*

Lafayette is awesome.  He does not play a huge role in the books as he does in the show.  Much like Tara.  So I am going to hide my next comment which is kind of spoilerish but could turn out to be not true as well....

Do not get attached to Lafayette.  He dies in the first scene of the second book.  I do think that since he is such a big part of the show, they could get away with not killing him off as it wasn't vital he die for the plot of book 2.

Figures :'(

So, I've finally caught up with the show online since I don't get HBO.  So far I think everyone's doing a good job, but I still like the books better.  I'm only on book three because I've been rotating through several series now, but I'm planning to finish this series before the second season of this show.

I haven't read the books (yet), but I'm thoroughly enjoying the series so far.  The only thing that annoys me is the hint of telekinesis that is never mentioned or seen again.  Granted, I know it's only been a handful of episodes, but it annoyed me that no further mention has been made by Bill or Sookie.  Eh, whatever, the show is still good.

As I'm a sucker for reading spoilers, I had heard about the below spoiler.  I hope that doesn't occur in the show - he's already my favorite character.  *crosses fingers*

Anybody watch last night?  Jason had some kind of religious experience with V.  And more "clues" as to "figuring out" the deal with Sam.

and keeps having them.

Alright, satisfy my curiosity. I've been doing the "that wasn't in the book" thing quite often, lately. Are they mixing books to get more in the show or are they making this crap up as they go along?

Well according to Yv, they are throwing in some stuff that are in the later books.. or at least hinting on it.  I am on book 3 and most of this stuff isn't happening.  I could do without the whole "I got a demon in me" subplot as I just want someone to put Tara out of her misery.

And where is Bubba?  This is a great character in the book but is not in the show so far.  If they leave out this vital and quirky character, I will be really dismayed.

If you haven't figured out that Sam is a shifter that turns into a collie by now, you need to pay more attention.  I did not watch last night's episode but it looks like we get into the shifter/Were world coming soon which will liven the series up for me a little.

I like the show but dont love it.  I think reading the books before seeing the show gave me higher expectations.  I have a friend who says this is a show he doesn't miss each week.

They are making up a LOT of crap as they go along.  There are some hints towards things that you find out later in the books, but 90% of the show is made up.  Here are some things that were true:

1. local fangbangers getting killed

2. Sookie's grandma getting killed

3. Sookie's cat getting killed

4. Jason is a womanizer (though it's no way as central in the books)

5. Laffayette is gay and flamboyant, and friendly to Sookie, there's nothing in the books about him being a dealer and he has a way smaller part in the books.

6. Tara also has a way smaller part in the books.

7. Sam's ability is in the books.

8. The two cops are pretty close to how I imagined them

9. a mob burns down a vampire nest and Sookie thinks Bill is dead.

10. Longshadow and fangtasia (but his untimely end isn't accurate) *shrug*

Really Bubba would have made a great character in the show.  Taking him out leaves a pretty large hole in the series for me.

I'm bumping this up unless we want to start a new thread for season 2.

I don't have HBO, so I'm watching online and catching up.  Who else is watching this season?

Me! Me!

Its still an alright show, I'm waiting for Dexter though. I want to see if they go down the sucky 'ending' of the books, or if they go on a new path.

I love true blood. I like the characters, and the story line.

I am watching season two and I have never read the books but I think sookie's bro is going to hook up with the preachers wife.

Also that shaking lady freaks me out, I am totally hooked
