Lesse. I tried to pick a neutral username here, so you get my blog's title. My biggest online WoT presence is as an admin over at A Wheel of Time Wiki, on wikia. I know there are other encyclopedias out there, but we wanted to take an in-universe approach, and so far it's been going well, if slowly. Okay, glacially, of late.  ::)

 

In the real world, I've met several of you at Dragon*Con for the last 3-4 years. If I'm costumed out for WoT, it's usually as "Twitchy the Asha'man". Picture from this year:

My next big costume is going to be Sammael as Lord Brend, if I can ever find the Light-blessed fabric...  >:(

 

Started reading the series in high school in 1991 with TEOTW, dropped it for a few years, then got all four of the books for Christmas and it was off to the races. I've pretty much read them 12! times by now (that's factorial, not emphasis - yes I'm a bit of a geek).

 

I'm a little unclear about all the fine details of DM so far, so I'll be starting slow. Questions welcome, I'm no good at these introduction-type-things...

Hrm. I didn't see a 'Help' or FAQ location for the forums, so I guess I'll have to hijack my own thread to ask a few things:

• Is it possible to increase the number of posts you see per page of a topic? 12 seems awfully short to me...
  
• Apparently in the changeover from phpBB to SMF _{(which I keep reading as Secret Masters of Fandom)}, the 'Add yourself to this org via [tt]Forum Options>Usergroups[/tt]' concept went away, right? A bunch of the Orgs still list this as their instructions, but maybe I'm blind and not seeing how to do it myself.
  
• It's insinuated in one or two places that you can join more than one Org. Is that accurate at this time?
  
• Are the offsite Org/RP boards still active, or have they archived? _{Don't shoot the messenger, I read all 237 pages of the announcement by Kath...}  :-\ I only ask because I can't really justify adding yet ANOTHER forum/board to my busy social schedule...  ::)

1. I have no idea.  Let me know if you find out.

2. No that is no the method anymore.  Depending on which ORG you are looking to join.. some have threads saying if you want to join post here or something similar.  Some ask you to pm a certain person.  I'd say look for the sticky threads about joining but apparently some of them have outdated info. 

3. Yes.. you can join any and all Orgs that you wish at this time.  I don't know if or when that will ever change.

4. Most are not active anymore. It again depends on which Org you join.  One in particular is still very active.

It looks like Nae has answered all your questions.

 

It may be an idea to let Barm know which ORGs still have the 'Forum Options>Usergroups'' sign up option. Then he can get the ORGs to change it.

To the first one: We'll need to check with Matalina/Segurant/Jason on that. I don't think we have an option to change it ourselves, but they might. I'll look into it.

 

The second and third... what Nae said

 

To the fourth, All orgs should no longer have offsite boards, any offsite boards that are still there are no longer affiliated with DM, the Band excepted, and they are working on that with Jason.

but you dont see all boards, as you are joined into usergroups the rest of the boards pop up, thus you dont have to go crazy over unesicary boards ;)

Ninethly, did my insuation that you're not cool unless you join the Seanchan work to make you join the 'Chan?  If so, why? if not, why not?  Explain your answer in no less than two sentences and use the word salatious (preferably properly spelled when you do it.  I don't have to because I'm special (like short bus special))
