I Have been away from the band for so long, I must apologies for my desertion early into my training but i had to go. My life went in a different Direction.

 

Maybe one day i will be able to return to your fires and share in song and drink again.

........And of song. In my days away i have heard the people of strange lands sing familiar songs.

To my surprise brothers and sisters Armies march to the Tune of our very own Jak' of the Shadows and many have for a very long time.

They Called it Gary Owen, which i assume to be a man but have learned nothing of him from the Lyrics. which let me say are more varied then those of the tune we know.

Took me forever to find this out.  there's some place on the off boards that has that same link.  Makes singing our JoS versus rather difficult as it's such a fast paced tune.

When I first saw this, I was thinking what on Earth the garryowen (a kick in rugby) had to do with Jak O' the Shadows. And then it aaaaalllllll became clear!
