The Gathering Storm now on Amazon. With expensive leatherbound edition

Hey everyone,

Just noticed on Amazon they finally added the hardcover copy of The Gathering Storm (they previously only had the Audio CD available).  On top of that, they added a leatherbound edition of The Gathering Storm - suggested retail price is 250 bucks.  Which sounds.... insane.  I was hoping for some nicely bound (perhaps even leather) editions once the series was over, but if each book was going for $250 (or even at $166), I don't think I could afford it.

I am a late-comer to the series, though.  Were any of the other books published leatherbound?

And lastly, I do know that an Amazon listing isn't an official announcement, but they're not often completely fabricated either.

Thoughts or answers?

Thanks

Here is the link to the Amazon listing, for those who are curious...

As far as I know, I've seen some of his later books being sold as limited-edition and leatherbound. And while I don't remember the exact price I do know that they were also pretty expensive. Sorry :(

Just looked at the link and found an interesting fact. Page count 688. That's for what Brandon Sanderson said was a book just about 300k words. So total page count for the completed three volumes (estimating somewhere around 800k+ to 900k final word count) would be close to 2000 pages. No wonder they decided to split it.

YES! The audiobook comes out in November to :D Michael Kramer and Kate Reading as usual, GREAT!

Every book since TSR was released in a limited leather bound edition, and they were all quite expensive. Encyclopaedia-wot.org has a whole page about collecting WoT books and shows pictures of the leather bound editions.

I have just pre-ordered the Hardcover edition from Amazon. At $29.99, I am hoping that they will give me a discount when the book actually gets closer to publication.

Bahh just a tease, thought if on Amazon already would be closer but November.  Still too early for me to preorder.

Should be able to get 30-40% off when first comes out through Walmart and Barnes and Noble
