Welcome Everyone!  *grins and bounces*  To the Kin's

Second Annual Challenge of the Sashes Poetry Contest!!!

The members of each Sash group have been working together to write poems of four different types this month!  This fourth week is the HAIKU.  Then as a group, they choose the one they feel is the best to be posted in the vote against the other Sashes!  The vote is open to anyone who visits our boards! Kin members are asked to post that they HAVE voted..but not WHO they voted for.  This is important if you want credit for participation in the Challenge to share in any points your Sash group wins! ;)  You are welcome to post compliments and comments as well!

As a little twist this week, and to add to the thrill of competition, since our race is so closely tied...ALL haiku's written in the Sash boards will be entered here! THis means all Sashes will have three entries!!  First will  recieve 10 points, second 8; third 6 and fourth 4, fifth through sixth will recieve three points each and seven throu twelfth will recieve two points each!!  *grins*  this should add some mystery to the  outcome!!!  GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!! and everyone will have THREE VOTES EACH!

The Voting

~The vote will last from today, April 27th to May 1st.

~The winners will be announced in the Winner's Circle thread, along with all the poems written for that type of poem!

~Poems are posted anonymously!  No author or Sash revealed!

~The vote is HIDDEN!  *grins*  I love the anticipation!

This final week of voting is a bit shorter to accomodate the end of the month!  The Winners of the Haiku and The Challenge will both be announced on SATURDAY, MAY 2nd!!

The topic this week was a celebration of EARTHDAY!  Here is a description of poetry form of the Haiku:

Haiku (also called nature or seasonal haiku) is an unrhymed Japanese verse consisting of three

unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables (5, 7, 5) or 17 syllables in all.  Haiku is usually

written in the present tense and focuses on nature (seasons).

And the choices for this week are:

#1:

our environment

together making progress

for healthier earth

#2:

Scattered butts abound,

At corners and traffic lights;

Now outdoor ashtrays.

#3

Butterflies sail past.

Flowers bloom and trees grow tall.

Spring will slowly pass

#4

Oh weekend, Oh beauty

No work or stress or pain

Restfull peace and quiet

#5

Seas of grass, no more;

Development encroaches

Crowding out nature.

#6

Plant a tree to live

Destroy forest to survive

What is compromise?

#7

trees and flowers all

green and bright, sunlight shining

in my garden bright

#8

Landfills of plastic

Natural water for free

why not use the tap?

#9

Remembering life

Mother Nature's great bounty

See the beauty here

#10

Trees and flowers sing

from all the colors nature gives

everywhere and here

#11

Cycle of life

egg to cocoon to flying

butterfly garden

#12

Mother Earth, lovely,

We have made a day for you.

Beauty grows. All enjoy!
