b/c rand was more use channeling and it was stupid to risk himself in a battle were a a single unseen arrow would mean death to rand

lan has never seen couladin fight so we cant say he was judging more that he was offering tacticial sound advice

In fact, the only Whitecloak that is a Darkfriend (that we know of) is Jaichim Carridin, IIRC.
