Thanks much!! The Fourth is my favorite holiday all year. I spent the whole day down on the Esplanade in Boston with about 500,000 other patriotic souls. Watched the Boston Pops, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry from Aerosmith, a great fireworks display and the best rendition of the 1812 Overture in the country(complete with fireworks and howitzers!!!)

 

The Republic has had a rough few years recently, but she's still lookin' pretty good for a 230 year old!

It was too cloudy for fireworks, so all I heard was a lot of noise. Call me unpatriotic, but I'm just glad all that popping is done with :roll:

I would have loved to have heard that rendition of the 1812... did they have a choir for the last bit as well?

No chior, but right before the 1812 they have a patriotic sing-a-long. Its really something to see half a million people belting out everything from Yankee Doodle to God Bless America and The Star Spangled Banner. It's a great fun and very moving at the same time.

Oh, and during the 1812 every church bell in a five mile radius is tolling in time with the music. It's something every American should experience at least once in their lifetime.
