World Series

Hey man... I am still worried the Phillies come back and win it.  They could catch fire tonight with Lee pitching and that could carry over to Game 6.

Agreed.  Well at least Fox will be back to it's regularly scheduled programming.

After wearing Yankees gear to work two days this week (I work in Philly) and hearing people smack talk the Yankees, I am very happy to have my team win the thing.  Now I am trying to decide if I am decorating this guy's desk with Yankees gear.

The philly fans are strangly quite today... or saying stuff like "typical Yankee fans".

The best team won.  No matter if you hate the Yankees or not you have to admit the Yankees deserve it.  If you think they paid for their team then you are welcome to that opinion... I am not disputing it.  There is no cap and every other team can follow the same scheme to win a WS.

You get what you pay for.  That being said, not every team can afford to spend $200 million for players; some probably can't even afford to spend $50 million.

I concur.  I also like the idea of a salary cap in every league.  I like an even playing field.  But until this comes into play for MLB I am not going to hold that against teams that can pay for players.

I think there should probably be a middle ground like a luxury tax that actually means something.  I'd rather have no cap than have a situation like the NFL.

The NFL still has dominant teams and sucky teams with a cap.

I think market sharing should be a bit better.  I know that there are more Yankee fans out there and I get the logic... but NY wouldn't have all this free money if it were more equal.

Not really

The Red Sox are even my team and they have been since I was 12. I'm just giving credit where credit is due, even though it sucks :-\

The problem is that many teams didn't invest in their teams to get them to the point that they can spend.  Yes, the Royals will never have as large a revenue pool as the Yanks do.  But Steinbrenner sank millions into his team and his stadium, building a brand that had grown tarnished, and he reaped the rewards.  Carl Pohlad in Minnesota, on the other hand, decided to pocket his revenue sharing payments (instead of increasing payroll) - and in doing so he alienated his fan base and lessened his ability to field a winning product, which further impacted his bottom line.

You get what you pay for isn't just on the field.

Yeah I don't have sympathy for owners who aren't willing to spend, just the ones who aren't able.
