On my current reread of the series I noticed something Cadsuane said to Rand when they were meeting with Caraline Damodred, High Lord Darlin, Toram Riatin, and the rebels concerning his return to Andor because Cairhien was no place for him,

 

"Most boys learn not to stick their fingers into the pretty fire the first time they are burned, Thomas(Rand). Others need to be spanked to learn. Better a tender bottom than a seared hand."

 

Is this clever RJ ironic foreshadowing, or some sort of fortelling by Caddy? So hopefully Rand has learned not to stick his fingers in the fire in the future...

I think it's just RJ being clever.  There are a lot of little things like that, that are mentioned once and will come to pass later.  I'm sure if Cadsuane had the fortelling, we would have been told about it before now. 

 

Another thing that's been forshadowed, I think, is Nynaeve saying she'd like to heal Thom's limp in his leg.  It was mentioned only in passing, but I think it'll come about eventually.

    Even though Cadsuane gives Rand a rough time alot, where it comes to a physical injury that serious of losing your hand, if she knew about that she would have done something about it and not just sit there. If Rand was going to slip in the mud, Cadsuane would be the first to laugh at it or call him on it. ;D
