And I'm so sucking at trying to keep active with Cairma..

Anyone interested in an old Ren'Shai wandering around? Need help with WSs?

I'm trying to get back into my writing again...

I'm up for something, I've been kinda bored too.  Visar just reached WS 11 and I need to start knocking out some reqs.  What style is Ren'Shai again?

(after reading teh historic discipline)

Oooo! Aggressive and difficult to master! I like it (though it could be less vague) and it actually fits my character with his three weapons (and I'd consider a longsword a relatively agile weapon in two hands) I'd be very interested in rping training with your character and attempting to learn the style (or at least picking up pointers from it).  Could be enlightening for my guy, who's still in "buffalo" mode of offensiveness (need to refine it a bit).  And dare I say fun?

I'll try to figure out how to make it a WS req.

Well I was thinking of modifying the concept just a little.  Seeking the offensive initiative is a defensive safety in and of itself, but it only helps with contact with the other weapon in some form of bind.  From there, you can feel the pressure from their sword to feel what they're going to do next (if they push at you, they're strong and you can flow around it, if they're a little weak, you can strike through and hit them, if you don't feel any pressure, they've already moved to strike you in another place; either way you have some form of contact and therefore you're safer that way).  So, offensive in that getting the first strike in and following it up is optimal, but defensive in that you close off some lines of attack and try to win securely from some form of bind.

But that aside (which could probably fit into Ren'Shai as a variation?) pain tolerance is always a good thing to have.

I say, Bring on your gauntlet!

Well, Cairma is a 'former' Ren'Shai, so variation is good. Something worth talking out in character, I think. :) Feel free to start a thread when you are comfortable seeking her out. I can start too if you don't feel up to it.

I sent in a bio update a while ago just trying to update my age, but never saw it updated either.  Hrm...Who's supposed to get around to that?  Oh well not too important.

Ok, so Cairma's reserved, has some inner demons (Visar doesn't have demons per say, but he has inner struggles too so he can relate potentially), has a similar body build to Visar (well, Visar's rather stocky now but he's similar height), and has a similar primary weapon to Visar (well, a two handed (primarily rather than exclusively, in Visar's case) sword with two edges I presume).

The only requirement WS-wise I can think to make this one is the Longest Yard, though that's supposed to be a bit heavier around social interaction.  Guess I'll invite other people in if they want to watch or learn with us.

Well, we'll have some learning, perhaps a bit of sparring, and lots of discussion depending if the characters get along.  I'll scrap something together, let me know if you want any details changed.

Edit: post is up: A Day of Painful Discovery

*hugs Matalina* Hi hun. i'm not worried about WS updates. you're busy enough as it is anyway.

We'll work on figuring out how to make training fit into your WS requirements. I'm pretty good at that. (I was taught well on the twisting of Req's).

Anyway, I 'JUST' got the new WoT book in the mail so I 'may' take a little bit to actually replay. I'll see if I can get one but the itch to read it is rather strong... As for the post, at a quick glance I don't see anything wrong with it. And it's lengthy! Woo!! I like lengthy posts! more to work with!

Yeah seems like everyone got busy lately but I should be RPing again regularly probably starting tomorrow. Visar I will catch up on our RP while I add bios in the morning (Assuming I have any to add). Aubrey if you need either of my characters for a story idea let me know :)

Good to have you back, Sangreal!  ;D  Oh yeah, I should wrap up our borderlands training rp when I get a chance X_X  I'll get to it tomorrow after I work hopefully.  I think I'm going to chill at home for most of halloween.

Aubrey, as long as we have the thread last the "whole day" IC, and have some form of social interaction other than training (say, breaks for lunch and dinner where our characters talk about their experiences etc?), I'd say I'd fulfill the Longest Yard req.  So as long as you don't mind a two, possibly three page thread, we're good ^^

And take your time with the post, I've heard the latest book is a real page turner (though I have lent my copy to someone else so I won't be able to read it for a while).

Responded! :)

A 2-3 page thread isn't difficult and always a good way for characters to learn more about each other. We can sort of just go with the flow which makes for better Rp's anyway.

As for the book, it was! I had to put it down as my mind connected plot threads, but 2 days and 2 late nights (a 7am and 4 am) and it's done. I'll probably re-read it in a few days.. :look

Hey Visar, if you want a better understanding of the Ren'Shai, I am the Discipline Leader on the Org side. I wrote up a nice little explanation of our greatness. Not sure how in line it is with the RP side, but it may be useful for you.

The Ren'Shai Discipline is the path to becoming a living, breathing weapon. This Discipline requires an individual to be truly exceptional with extremely well rounded physical and mental traits in every area. Strength, Agility, Endurance, Balance, Grace, Tactical Prowess, Mental Swiftness... these things matter. A true practitioner of the Ren'Shai Discipline throws everything they have into every battle, making them truly appear to be a living weapon. Never ceasing movement, never yielding an inch to the enemy. Every movement made within Ren'Shai is simply to advance and attack.

Pain. Physical injury. These are merely catalysts, pushing the practitioner of Ren'Shai further, past their limits to the point of becoming Death's Harbinger on any battlefield they set foot upon. The Ren'Shai Discipline is difficult to master, but can be utilized to engage multiple opponents as well as single opponents. This Discipline can employ the use of light, bladed weapons and is only used by a select few.

In battle, we are an extension of the blade we wield, and the blade an extension of our will. Without mastery over one's self, the fullest martial prowess of Ren'Shai cannot be attained. It is important to not only hone your skill with the blade, but hone your mental and physical being to match the sharpness of the sword you carry. A Master of the Ren'Shai Discipline can hold their head high, knowing that they are not only a Blademaster, but master of themselves. Their emotions, their mind and body, and their destiny...

Do you have what it takes to become a living weapon? Do you possess the courage, fortitude and strength of will necessary? Can you accept that death itself will ride the edge of your blade..?

Thought you were Ren'Shai on the RP side?

Anyways, no matter. You can still drop by the Ren'Shai public boards on the Org side. We always welcome Aes Sedai to the boards!  ;)

*grins*

Bonded a Ren'Shai Comm and RP, and yes I'm Ren'Shai on the RP. I think i've stopped by a few times, although I'm currently doing the Ajah Mingle these days..

I'll end up going Ren'Shai with my Rp character once I get the WS up more. Working on WS 5 at the moment.
