Bashere is Demandred?

RJ said we havent seen Demandreds alter ego before the end of book 9.

really? was this at a signing?

RJ said we havent seen Demandreds alter ego before the end of book 9.

More accurately book 10.

i still perfer the Taim theory.

taim is gathering an army of new dread lords, which will be more useful and powerful to fight against Rand.  the foresaken are all about power and demandred wont strike unless he has the upper hand.  100 or so dread lords against Rand and present company will be a great upper hand.

ahhh,  that would make sense  *slaps forehead*  i may be a redhead, bu i swear sometimes i act like a dense blonde

*looks at coffee cup*  or maybe it's something in my coffee today  ::)

No, when book ten was almost out RJ said we havent seen Demandreds alter ego yet

And this may be a slight mis-statement.  I believe what he meant is that we had not seen a POV from Demandred's alter-ego.

Not willing to go to the wall on that, though.

Q: Have we yet seen the alter-ego Demandred presents to the Third Agers on-screen?

A: NO. (I asked twice to make sure.)

What that means is by the end of book nine we might have heard of the person Demandred uses as an alter ego, but we havent seen them. So not Bashere and definitely not Taim, despite the physical resemblances.

Besides Robert Jordan's comments, the 'kill Rand' order proves that Taim is not Demandred.

what leads you to believe that??  theres no evidence saying he isn't in the books??  :)

There is evidence in the books showing that Demandred isn't Taim - at the Cleansing Demandred fails to recognise Damer Flinn, and wonders whether an Asha'man could be that old, something that wouldn't make sense if he was Taim. There's also the Kill Rand order, as mentioned by mv, also from WH, where one of the rogue Asha'man remembers getting orders to kill Rand from Taim, the same order from Demandred (but telling him not to let anyone know, even the M'Hael) and an order from Moridin saying kill Rand if you have to, but requesting that Rand's possessions be brought back to him.

And Taim is blunt as hell whereas Demandred wont risk his cover. Taim seems to enjoy nothing more than dropping hints, most likely because his role is to make Rand paranoid of the Ashaman.
