Hello everyone.  I'm very excited to join this site!

 

I started reading The Wheel of Time in 1998 and have been hanging on every word since page 1.  This is by far my favorite series, though I enjoy many.  My other favorite books and authors include The Dark Tower series by Stephen King, the Ender series by Orson Scott Card, The Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martin, anything by Jeff and Michael Shaara, Neil Gaiman (including the Sandman series), and James Clavell. 

 

I've read most of the Sword of Truth series by Goodkind, but thought it was too derivative of other popular series, and too repetitive between books.  Of course I enjoyed Tolkien, but thought the books were generally too slow, and loved the movies. 

 

My wife loves to read too, but completely different books -- she thinks I'm a big dork.  Nobody I work with reads either, which is why I'm so excited to have joined here and start reading all the posts!

 

My biggest question is who in the heck is Demandred impersonating and how is it not Mazrim Taim?? 

 

My favorite scenes are:  Rand going through the rings in book 4, Moraine's death in book 5, Dumai's Wells, the bonding scene between Rand and the girls, and when Tuon names Mat as her husband.  (I hope that was ok to post here!)

Don't apologise about the long post! Glad you enjoy the series, and hope you enjoy your time here! I actually can't remember the last time I read WoT, but I have read many good (if not better) series since then.

 

I think you will probably enjoy the book discussion area of the board (when it is working!), but don't hesitate to look at other areas. If you get lost and/or confused, don't hesitate to ask questions - we will be more than happy to help.
