Christmas Music CD

Featured Replies

Posted

Alright, we're starting this one early so hopefully I can get them all ripped and in the mail just after Thanksgiving (that's next Thursday, for those not in the US). That gives us one week to put together music and get the CD put together! I'd really like to try to get the overseas people their CD's before...oh, Valentine's Day...? LOL

So, post your favorite Christmas tune here and I'll dig through my vast collection (I'm being serious, don't laugh) and see if I have it. If I don't, I may need you to send it to me! I keep thinking I have it all, but it never fails, ya'll throw me a curve ball every year. LOL So, FIRE when ready!

What do YOU want to see on the Kinly Christmas CD this year?

OK.. "image buster" in progress...

I absolutely, never ever go a season without listening to every one of my TEN different versions of Ave Maria (Schuberts' being my favorite). At this moment, it's The Vienna Boys Choir and Placido Domingo with Andre Previn conducting. I have tears in my eyes and my throat is tight. :'(

Honest..10 of em

Schubert

Aaron Neville

Andrea Bocelli

Charlotte Church

The Cranberries with Luciano Pavarotti (Latin with an Irish Accent is... interesting)

Harry Connick Jr. (Latin with a New Orleans accent is..... ummm...different)

The Three Irish Tenors

Kathleen Battle

The Vienna Boys Choir

and a version (not the well known one) with Bobby McFerrin and Yo Yo Ma written by Charles Gounod combined with a Bach Prelude...

Sinead O'Connor (no idea who wrote this version)

Exactly two weeks ago today, Lillian Freeman died in Cincinnati, OH.  She was my aunt, my father's sister, and one of my favorite people in all of the world.  It is significant because this Christmas won't be the same without her playing her old beat up copy of Jim Reeve's Christmas album.  "Please Senor Santa Claus" is still my favorite.  I have to find a copy of that CD to remember all of the holidays that she made better.

Bing Crosby and David Bowie doing "Little Drummer Boy" is cool, too.

Is anyone besides me old enough to remember "Scarlet Ribbons"?  Or, Dolly Parton's "Me and Little Andy"?  It's like those damned Christmas Shoes- you sit and blubber all over the place--have a happy holiday, sob.

*course it ain't gonna sound like Kasey Kasem Top 40 or Bob Edward's from NPR. But I can give it a shot.

And Manny, I got your PM and if we get enough people, I'll start putting a script together for you this weekend. More details will come in the PM. ;)

That means you have until Saturday, people! My goal was to do this during my Thanksgiving Break so everyone could enjoy it (instead of getting it out late or not getting it to people overseas at all!), but I can't promise time without a break! C'mon, peeps!

Ok White Christmas Bing Crosby

alright, sorry for the quintuple posting, but I wanted to make sure I started digging for the stuff you want. I'll sit down this evening and really dig through my collection to see what I have and don't have from this list.

I'm still waiting on the rest of you... *nudges people*

This isn't Christmas Music, it's a story of "first half of the 20th Century" America.

It's one I heard many years ago when I drove big trucks for a living and listened to National Public Radio constantly. You can listen to it using the link below

"Happy Tears" alert!!  Have tissue handy  ;)

John Henry Faulk's Christmas Story

You'll note of course, one may download the story right below the picture of Mr. Faulk. Which of course I did several years ago 8)

Fairy Tale of New York - The Pogues and Kirsty McColl

Merry Christmas Everybody - Slade

Have any of the other compilations ever been made? Just curious cos I think I mentioned last time that I've never seen one of them yet lol.

I've made... 2? I didn't get last year's out because of money and overseas shipping for a CD is ridiculous. I do remember mailing the first one overseas, though, so you should've gotten that one!

Aww well I didn't but not to worry. Totally understand on the cost issue, no problem there. Just wondered.  :) Btw I don't know about anyone else but if you need us to pay any shipping, I'm certainly happy to cover the cost. No reason you should have to do it hun.
