Jordan is clever with his names. Witness Elayne, Elmindreda, Aviendha, and Alanna, all of whom have names eerily similar to Ilyena. That was surely not accidental. Cuendillar means "Heartstone", which is probably more than just a poetic name.

Ehhh.

Elayne is eerily close. Elmindreda, Aviendha and Alanna are not. They use some of the same letters, but that doesn't make them close.

I'm not saying Jordan was not clever with names, I'm just baffled at your example.

But is cuendillar really a construct?

What can be classified that way? The Nym, sure, but idk if cuendillar is really a construct.

What's a Nym though?  It's a thing created with the True Source with a soul implanted in it.  The whole universe is made with the TS, it's all a construct.  All it would take would be the knowledge on how to manipulate the atoms/threads in the cuendillar to pull it back out.

I dunno what post yours was replying to, just sharing my view.

Teslan's post:

Just a quote I noticed in another thread that made something click:

'Constructs of the power cannot pass through a gateway'

Edit - cannot survive passing through even. Not living, ergo probably not relevant.

It is VERY thin, but possible?

That...:D

well the Aes Sedai have just become peddlers, it should lower their oppinions of themselves a bit.  Correct me if i am wrong, the TP can destroy cuendillar, because it works in opposition to the Wheel of Time and eats away at Saidin and Saidar.  So we need something that can destroy the One Power, Im thinking Fain possibly has the ability, as he is like an anti-DO.

What I dont understand about Heartstone is the seals. we know that the TP can destroy it. but then why didnt the DO just bust his ass out by using the TP to destroy the seals and then "rule the galaxy" or whatever his goal is

Oooo....Good Point....

The seals were hidden...He couldn't physically enter the world.

The seals were the focus point of the actual patch, not the patch themselves.

They contain like the code that says, 'hey, your stuck foo', but they can be moved anywhere around the world.

Idk how else to explain it....:(

You explained it right, but I love Mr. T so I may have some bias here.  :)

The Nym, Chora trees--anything living made by the One Power. At least that is how I read it.

And no, cuendillar is not a construct. And we have proof too. The Domination Band passed through several gateways without being effected.

lmao....

I pity the foo!...

...Who believes Cuendillar can't be destroyed by Bela.

Ok, keep it to the Bela thread.

It was a matter of both threads...I could have posted it on either.

*crosses fingers*

So, we are concluding cuendillar can go through....

Good point. Gah - I'll never come up with an ingenious insight (this will not stop me trying).

I'd agree that the Ta'Veren effect of rand could likely destroy cuendillar, considering the whole domination band incident. I also suspect Mordeth Magic (for lack of a better phrase) might be able to do the trick.

Either RJ or BS said that TP was a negative, ripping type power - specifically that gateways tear holes through the pattern rather than how the normal ones work. It's not a huge stretch that TP could weaken/destroy cuendillar. Which would never have been tested by AS since - Duh - none of them can use it.

Now that Egwene and Co. can make cuendillar - WHY THE F#$% don't they make weapons and armor out of it?!? Fireball? Bite me. Balefire? HAHAHA. I scoff at your balefire (as a cuendillar-tipped arrowhead blows through some poor forsaken's skull).

Aludra: screw bellfounders. Use Cuendillar. And make the balls out of cuendillar shrapnel. BRUTAL.

Cuendillar doesn't get a "reset" between ages - All the cuendillar that EXISTED prior to Egwene was from the AoL. I would suspect during a "normal rotation" of the wheel most/all of it gets destroyed somewhere.

Regarding Warders: Most of the forsaken have expressed some surprise at the bond itself, which means it was recently developed (I read somewhere as a way to control male channelers, btu I don't recall if that was canon or someone's whacko theory).

EVERY ajah has "Secret" weaves (see new spring, where it's discussed) it teaches newbie aes sedai as well as things they need to know but haven't been taught yet (such as deference to people with more power). I would imagine that the warder bond is a "common secret" in that likely all the ajahs teach it except the red. I seem to remember Pevara not having ever learned it at all.

Cuddles brings up a very good point and BS would seem to be agreeing - he's mentioned that the Dragon is tied to the land in a literal sense and thus the weakening of the seals (possibly all cuendillar, but I'm not taking my theory that far) could be a result of him - remember that the domination band failed when rand's morale was at an all-time low. Maybe to destroy cuendillar all you gotta do is get Rand nearby and make him moody? That wouldn't be too hard..

I believe the intended definition of Construct regarding gateway travel implied "living" constructs. Nym and shadowspawn most notably. I'd be curious at whether Fain could pass through given the number of things inhabiting his brain at the moment.
