I have read these books many times.  The earlier ones more than the later ones to be sure.

 

Whenever I have read them in the past, I spent so much time caught p in the story that I know I missed many details.  This time through I promised myself that I would not read forward frantically.  After all, at this point I know the story fairly well and there is not need to race forward to find out how the scene at Dumai's Wells will end, etc..

 

I think the thing that I missed on the most in reading these books previously is just how darn funny Robert Jordan is.  What a tremendous job he does throughout the story maintaining the caricatures he creates of individuals, cultures, relationships, societies, etc.

 

I suppose this is like any other masterpiece.  The more you study it, the more the depth of it hits you in ways it has not in the past.  Kudos to a great master.  If you haven't read the books slowly and in a fashion where you can savor the irony of the characters, go back and do it.  Man, is Nynaeve a riot!

Very Well spoken.  I would definitely have to agree with you on the hilarity of the series.  So many parts that just make me split my sides.  Robert Jordan......BRILLIANT!!
