Doesn't the glossary have notes on pronunciation? I'm pretty sure it says SHAY-ol GHOOL.

I find the glossary too one-dimensional to be realistic as it seems that Jordan expected everybody in the WOTland to have American accents to pronounce his words the way he did. What happened to the regional dialects he mentions?

Dictionaries tell you how to pronounce stuff but that doesn't stop people from having accents.
