Woo, even though I've only read the first two chapters of the first book this sounds good. And Sean Bean as Eddard!

Maybe I'll pick it up when I finish the series I'm reading now. Is it really that good?

while battles are an important element, there is a tonne of politics too.

Anyone read Malazan by Steve Erikson? I've been wanting to pick that up after I finish my current series.

I have read Malazan, and it is one of my favourite series as well, along side asoiaf and wot. I think the story arc of book 2 (chain of dogs) is one of the best stories I have ever read.

That's good to hear, i'll have to pick it up.

I have to second that about Erikson's Malazan series - it had one of the most interesting series - really a great series to pick up.

I'm reading Dan Simmons Hyperion Cantos now, thats really good. Also his two part series Illium and Olympos.

I've been waiting for this series forever!  I hope it goes straight to netflix like a few of the hot new series have been doing...  GRRM also needs to hurry up with a dance of dragons!  I wanna read it!

Haha, yup, at this rate the man will expire before the series is finished!

Maybe Sanderson can finish ASOIAF too.....
