Chapter 2 - Less Than Watertight

 

Rand pulled on the cadin'sor, the third set today.

The One Power lay waiting, calling, seemingly just beyond the edge of sight, but he ignored it for now.  Shaking his head ruefully, he tensed, preparing himself to embrace the Source.  It would be different this time. Twice already, he had prepared himself and grabbed for saidin, and twice the same phenomenon.  The nausea wasn't new, but still...

 

He sought the void, and focussed on the cuendaillar disc at his feet.  Saidin called him, and he reached for it again, tensing further.  The One Power rushed into him with its attendant sickly filth, and as he'd done twice before, he coughed...

 

"Whoops!"

 

The seal was broken.  Again.
