Nigerian Dwarfs.  The mom is about 20 in tall at the withers, and the babies are about the size of a 4-6 week old kitten lol!

OMG I think I want one. *squee*

Must... resist... pouncing... and... snuggling... to... the... ground...

*twitches*

Ok whats with mini animals??

I mean we have the wannabe dogs, you know the ones same size of a cat or rat. Now goats just bigger then house cats.

Just woundering here...

Oh and Bursius goat is generally good grilled and with BBQ sauce...

Well the mother goat is much bigger than a house cat, Tharengore.  We've got the hugest wandering tom cat and I've seen the two of them square off once.  The goat won. Handily.

This isn't a true "miniature" breed like you see in dogs, etc-- they're not stock of a larger breed just shrunk-- they're a breed of West African descent that was originally imported to the US to feed large game cats like Lions in zoos.

Why they're a great goat-- their smaller size makes them easier to handle and less dangerous (getting butted by a full-size goat sucks!).  Additionally, this is a dairy breed (NOT a meat breed as you and Bursius seem to think).  Even though they're small, a doe can produce anywhere from 1-8 lbs of milk a day (which is a lot!)

Our goal for the future is to cross breed Nigerian Dwarfs with Angora (wool-producing breed), so we'll have the ultimate multi-purpose goat:  smaller stature, dairy producer, and we can shear it for wool as well :)

They are adorable, claire!  We used to have some Nigerian dwarf goats.  DH named them Abraham, Martin and Joan (hey, Joan was a girl so we could hardly name her John! LOL!).  John blessed us with a doe but we ended up giving all of them to a friend.  After a couple more babies, Amy (new owner) took Abraham and Martin to the vet for "brain surgery."  ;D

We used to get a chuckle when Amy would tell us how the goats would butt the underside of the trampoline when her boys were jumping on it.  They sure can be characters!
