Does anyone know whether or not he's supposed to come back in the series? It's just weird because he was a major character in the second book and then just kind of disappeared in the beginning of the third book. He hasn't even been mentioned at all since then either...

Oh, he comes back :) I hope this isn't a spoiler, but he is in TGS and it is likely he will be seen in TOM. I really liked Hurin. There's a reason he's sort of "cut off" for a few books too.

Awesome. Thank you. Now I really can't wait to get to The Gathering Storm, he was one of my favorite characters, and it will be nice to see him come back.
