House, anyone?

Sorry if this is a repeat post or anything; I skimmed the board history and didn't find anything.

So, any House fans in the ... house? (Sorry)

Chris and I are both avid watchers. Due to his show conflicting with the second half of season 2 we've been catching missed episodes over the summer and I have to say it's gotten even better as time goes by.

The lines, oh the lines. What are your favorite Houseisms? That's what got me hooked on the show in the first place. And then, the cast is all beautiful people so there's some eye candy too, but that's a distant third to the scriptwriting and Hugh Laurie's acting.

Errr, not yet. I guess I will have to pick it up if people I respect like it.

Hey you know the hardest think coming back to DM is, watching my language.

It's such a fun, sarcastic show that all of my close friends started watching it at the same time, independently, and then a few weeks later asked each other "Hey, have you seen that new doctor show yet?" ...

Even Chris likes it, and he doesn't like TV (except for Doctor Who).

Sometimes the show makes me cringe, though - a bit too gory for my taste.

I don't like it that much. Its got the same base storyline for just about every episode I've seen.

Guy gets siriously ill and they have no clue what to do because they dignose him wrong about 3 times. Drama builds. It turns out he cheated on his wife or something like that. They figure out what is wrong just before he dies and can't do anything OR are just barely able to save him.

Thats what I've seen for just about every episode.

I am literally gleeing over here at the moment. Season 2 came out on DVD on Tuesday and I have it in my hot little hand for a full on marathon before Season 3 starts on the 5th. Big shouts out the smart folks who FINALLY released the DVDs of one season before the next season starts airing!! Genius, I tell you! Or at least convenient for folks like me who don't want to pay enough attention to record a full season of unseen shows, since we watched Season 1 on DVD after Season 2 started airing and didn't want to jump ahead in the story line.

I'd agree that there are some gore issues from time to time, since innards aren't my cup of tea, but the wit and rhetoric of Hugh Lorie's lines definitely overshadow that for me. If he were a real person and not a fictional character I can see him being someone I'd greatly admire, but also a really hard friend to have since I'd never be sure when he would turn his sarcasm on me. Some of the stuff he gets away with isn't entirely believable, but I do find his character (and most of the others) believable, which is a rarity for me in most current television.

Ooh... I'll have to let Chris know it's out and then we can pick it up tomorrow after I get paid. I'm sure we've missed a few episodes despite the fact that we get it 2-3 times a week on different networks in different timezones. We seem to get half our shows on the PST schedule and half on the CST/EST schedule.
