This is random, but just had a thought - Rand's wound from Fain's dagger did not heal after the cleansing because Fain and Dagger are still around. But, once they are "gone" (balefire, anyone...?) I think that it will either disappear or will be healed.

That's too similar to thinking that someone's cancer will get better because you removed the radioactive shrapnel from their body for me to buy it.

It's probably something he'll have to always deal with...if he survives the Last Battle.

well if he used the Chodean Kal, callandor, and a circle of 72 or whatever it is, and every sa angreal in the world.  I bet you could balefire Fain out of the world. 

Did anyone ever read Raymond Feist's "King's Buccaneer"?  In it, one of the characters has an infirmity that will only heal when he learns to stop leaning on it like a crutch. I'm not saying Rand leans on that like a crutch, but I do think that part of the reason it won't heal is because Rand doesn't want it to heal.  He is convinced that his blood needs to be spilled at TG, and he assumes this wound is what will spill it. As long as he has that wound, it's one less thing for him to worry about (subconsciously). Which of course begs the question...could the power heal someone that doesn't want to be healed?  Pure speculation of course, and I can't wait to RAFO.
