the 11th book

Am I the only one that thinks that Knife of Dreams make the series good? All I hear is the Gathering Storm is the only later book that pick up the series, and I love both books.

this is my first topic, I'm kind of new here.

Knife of Dreams is an exceptional book, although I think it is overrated in that it picked up the pace from CoT. The same with tGS, i hear praise for BWS work (which I believe to be exeptional, and even if it was rubbish, we should be grateful that he is willing to finish the series and delay his own projects)  where RJ planned the events that happened in tGS, it was not that BS made it pick up the pace

Loved KoD. In retrospect, though, I do plenty of WH rereads as well, so I wouldn't say the ones that came before it were all that bad. A bit slower, yes, but I like every one of them.

KOD brought the series back onto a nice track.

When, precisely, do you think the series went off track? Book 6 was a radical departure from the first 5, but was brilliant in its scope and its set-up for book 7. Book 7 is, in my opinion, one of the strongest in the series in terms of interesting character development and satisfying conclusions (the Nynaeve scene underwater makes tingle just thinking about it). Book 8 was kinda slow and had a weak conclusion. I'm re-reading through book 9 for the first time in 8 years and so far its full of win.

I don't mean to be a fanboy rabidly defending the series, but those are my opinions and I'm curious how yours differs.

N.B. I haven't actually read book 11 yet, I read book 10 when it first came out then only managed to make it to early book 6 during subsequent rereads in my undergrad
