An exercise in Daes Dae'mar

Suppose that Egwene took the Oath Rod directly from Saerin's rooms, without seeing or speaking to Saerin, on the morning after the Seanchan attack.  (If you want to debate whether this actually happened, see http://forums.dragonmount.com/index.php/topic,59408.0.html.)  She would not have wanted Saerin to flip out at learning the Oath Rod was gone, so she would have left a note, explaining who took it and why, and ideally referencing something that only Saerin and Egwene (or as few additional people as possible) know, to prove that it was Egwene who took it.  Moreover, this note would have to be cryptic, so that it would convey no information if it fell into the wrong hands.

Exercise: Write this note.

The best I can do is this:

To the User of Reason: I borrowed your hammer, since there are many nails I can reach that you cannot.

Saerin,

You weren't here so I just grabbed what I needed.

Egwene.

She can intuit the rest.

Saerin

Hi. I took the Oath Rod to root out the Black Ajah in my camp, will return it when I'm Amyrlin in the Tower. Btw, left another note with names of the ones in the tower.

Egwene

P.S. I've been workin on it 6 hours, you've been at it for months, and I STILL beat you to it.

If any Black's wander into Saerin's room and check out the note they can go ahead and read it >.> Egwene's own fault for not warding the note to burn if it isn't Saerin who touches it.

Ha, I like them.

I would write.

Saerin

I took it.

Egwene

Haha! This one is excellent.

Let's try :

Saerin,

The need drove me here, I took what I was looking for.

I went back where I arose, to partially complete your task.

I'll be back!

How bout...

Saerin,

Gonna go screw over the Shadow.

Talk soon.

Egwene.

Shouldn't that be...

I needed that which removed your need for Silence, Daughter of.

Mother.

Saerin,

Took the rod you use for friends in the dark.

Will return it once I'm done.

Egwene

PS - Sorry, I really needed it.
