Why feel sorry for Min? If we assume that Rand survives and grows to be +700 years old, he is the one who will be left with the grief of seeing a loved one die, Min will just die. So, I would more feel sorry for Rand. Except, I do not think he will survive, but that is a different story.

Long lifetimes will have to go for the wheel to keep turning.  I'll bet we actually see having children begins to dramatically reduce channeler lifetimes.
