Jaryl was born the son of a innkeeper and merchant, due to this in his upbringing he had to learn how to read and count. He where brought up to inherit the buisiness while his twin sister where thougth in the direction of innkeeping to inherit the inn. When they were 7 their mother died in a horrible fire so his father quit his job as a merchant to take care of the inn. When his sister got mysteriously sick on the age 12, and another time when she was 15 she was brought to a healer who told her she was a wilder. When she got better a few weeks later she decided to go to the White Tower to become a novice. A year after she left Jaryl and his father got worried about her, and why they never heard anything from her. So almost one year after she left he went after her to find out what happened. When he reached the White Tower he asked for her and they told him she’d never been there. Being at loss of to do as well as receiving a letter from home that his father lost his inn and where thrown in jail over a crime he was acused of Jaryl now had nowhere to go. It was as he was about to leave the tower he saw two Tower Guards sparring on the training ground, so he decided to join their ranks.
