Is there anything to suggest that the clensing of Saidin was unsuccessful?

I heard somebody mentioning that "Rand tried to clense the source, but failed." This weekend, and I was like, "Unless I just missed something, he was quite successful.  There are several Ashaman POV's that state the source is clean."

But I figured if anybody would know differently it would be you guys.  lol

It has been confirmed to be successful by RJ and Brandon in interview (aside from the fact that it's clear from the books that it was successful).  Someone might have been referring to the fact that the Cleansing did not eradicate all effects of the taint; what damage was already done will remain, whether madness or Machin Shin.  Or at least, those things will have to be dealt with separately.

It really pisses me off that no one in the books has yet acknowledged that Rand cleansed the source. I seriously hope that all the Ashaman aknowledge what Rand did

thats what cadsuane can treat them, to respect rand and to congradulate him :D but to my chagrine that is too noble an entreprise for her

Well that's good to hear.  lol  I was under the strong assumption that it truly was clean, but I wanted to be 100% sure of that.

When he clensed the source it made me smile for days after reading it. lol

It was strange how Rand acted as if he had never touched pure saidin before.

when was that?

The Eye of the World.

Though to be honest, he didn't really know what he was up doing at that point, and probably wasn't focused too much on how 'clean' it felt.

I know that he did at the Eye, but why would that be strange?  Did he act that way some other time?
