Acronyms: L.O.L.

Featured Replies

Okay, let's make this clear: "lol" is not an acronym; it is a word with a general definition of "that's funny" (with caps for further emphasis)

There is no such thing as

Laugh

Out

Loud.

Because, honestly, how many people actually laugh...out loud...when they type "lol".  What percentage of "lol"s are corresponded to actual laughter?  10%?  At most?  And that's probably stretching it quite a bit.  This does not include slight chuckles.  A slight chuckle would be a COL:

Chuckle

Out

Loud

COL is a reasonable acronym, because it is realistic and actually relates to what it stands for.

LOL isn't, and should be permanently moved from the list of acronyms and into the dictionary.

As a side note, BRB should be changed to IGGBRB (I gotta go, be right back).

Just because egg burps are that much more disturbing.
