When Rand stumbles across her in Shadar Logoth, while going to kill Sammael, he sees her jum out and kill a couple trollocs, yelling "MINE." She is obviously having issues, and she view Rand as an enemy and does not even recognize him. When Rand tells her, who he was, and what he intends to do with her, stunned that she could have survived in Shadar Logoth for a long period time by herself, and she is still there. She runs away from him screaming the Car'acan (I can't spell). Rand next sees her behind Sammael, where she is touched by Mashadar, and begins screaming. Rand balefires her. It does not make any sense. If she was like Mordeth and trapped by Mashadar, It would not have hurt her. But it does. She is in agony. How could she survive. Originally I thought that she was just possessed by Mashadar, but I no long think so after another reread. Any thoughts about what happened to her?

The gist is that Liah managed to survive in Shadar Logoth for a while and eventually succumbed to its corruption. Being corrupted kept Mashadar from actively trying to kill her.
