the 3 oaths and damane

It struck me reading through TGS in anticipation of the next book that Aes Sedai captured as damane will have a very limited use in battle for the seanchan. Is the oaths rendered null and void when captured, or is former aes sedai only able to use the power when they themselves are threatened? Would be rather pointless having what is considered essentially weapons, not being able to channel unless placed on the front lines.

more importantly then using the AS as weapons is the knowledge they provide:

gateways, ways of healing stilling, invert weaves, mask ability, illusion, healing

remember that elayda got captured who knows nearly every new weave egi and the rest had discovered

and they still can be used as support: Healers, scouts, *traveling platforms* etc

sorry forgot, to your question: the 3 oath still hold, there have been more then 1 example that AS damane could not lie or use the power as a weapon (dont have the quotes here but im 100% certain)

The last few chapters of KoD show the Seanchan force bringing "Mylen" (Sheriane) with them. It's mentioned she's unable to do anything offensive, but she's good at Healing and one of the sul'dam's favorites.

Also, RJ hinted that a way exists around that particular restriction. Perhaps one could convince the AS-damane that she'd be put to death is she wouldn't use the Power as a weapon. She is allowed to do it to save her own life, so... the potential is there.

Put her on a battlefield and make her feel her life is in danger. Any AS can use the power to kill in those circs.

Multiple examples through the series.

Actually, what I wonder is how the warders of Damane-sedai feel. Do they have any sort of weakness to the bond due to the nature of the A'dam?
