More Access Keys?

Featured Replies

I read the short story The Strike at Shayol Ghul for the first time today and something struck me...

In the footnote it reads: "They were brave men and women, for although those who were not killed outright were tortured, and though some revealed the purpose of their mission, none betrayed the location of any of the access ter'angreal. Still, the only real result was that the ter'angreal were widely scattered across areas held for the Shadow, their locations and even their existence to remain hidden for millennia. "

The ter'angreal referred to are the access keys to the two Statue Sa'angreal. We know that one ter'angreal was destroyed when Rand Cleansed teh taint, and Rand destroyed the male one at the end of TGS, but the wording above (it uses the word "any", if it was only 2, surely the correct wording would be "either") makes me thing that there could have been more than just the 2 access keys. Could we see the Sa'angreal playing a part in the last 2 books?

Even if there are access keys I'm pretty sure the actual sa'angreal themselves were destroyed. Well atleast the male one. I don't have the books handy at the moment but I thought Rand actually destroyed the statue in Cairhein?

He did. And the female one was destroyed during the Cleansing. This was confirmed in KoD.

In fact, it was confirmed in WH, ch. 35. We have the PoV of an Amayar saying the glob was melting, thus heralding the end of Illusion, or something like that.

Edit : no excuse me. You're right. What I say is just an hint toward it. The confirmation comes in KoD

Yeah. It was alluded to by Alviarin in CoT as well, but we don't get actual confirmation until word of the Amayar reaches the Sea Folk.
