I read these boards a lot and have not seen any discussion on the fact that Fain twisted Elida.

 

I am sure that it was important, does anyone think it might still play some sort of role?

There have already been signs from Elaida that Fain has effected her. The twisting was described as making it so that basically Elaida will no longer trust anyone which she really doesn't anymore. Although Alviarin the first Keeper for Elaida might have been the main cause for the Ajahs splitting so far apart Fain's work on Elaida could be a major factor also. Who knows maybe what Fain did to Elaida was the final straw in her decision to actually have a force of Aes Sedai try to capture Rand and bring him to the White Tower. Until the series is over we may never know how far she could go because of what Fain did to her.

On the other hand i don't necessarily know that Elaida needed all that much twisting. It's infinitely possible she got to her current state on her own.

I think of it more as Elaida's natural state being enhanced by a bit of Orfaindeth twisting.
