I'm completely knew to these forums - i've joined to ask this question, i'm sure its been asked 1000 times before but i couldnt find an answer anywhere online. How long is supposed to have passed between the start of Rand's journey (eye of the world) to say the end of The Gathering Storm?

about three years I think, but I might be wrong. It might be a bit less or a bit more. Anyone...? Plus, yo have to remember the time line is not universal and different people are at different times (though not too drastically)

Something over two years. There's a timeline at http://www.stevenac.net/wot/wotchron.htm though it's not canon and a lot is guesswork.

Cheers. It's just something i kinda stuggle to keep track of. I just noticed the other tread about asking simple questions.. guess i could have asked there .. but cheers for answers here.
