I love that the guy covering the Sean Lewis it has no idea what to do and then gets annihilated by the defender as he looks on. Props to Brown for an incredible play.

That's reminiscent of the final play in the Jaguars game a few weeks ago... except these players are on the same team... and on defense...

I've seen something similar to that in a game of Cricket.

 

The fielder caught the ball but his momentum was going to take him over the boundary line so he threw the ball into the air towards his team mate who caught it.

I think to call it a lateral would necessarily require a ruling that the player was in full control of the ball, which would be the same as ruling it a 'catch'.
