Personally, I love reading Sanderson's interpretation. I like the way he writes Mat more. I've never thought Mat should be the same throughout the whole series, Mat "I am no bloody hero" Cauthon is all well and good for 10 or so books, but after a while he has to put that behind him and begin to embrace what he's become. And so I find that he's become more relaxed in himself, more of the trickster he's always portrayed as, and I applaud Sanderson for the way he's handled Mat.
