The point I was trying to make is that we already went into the red for the rest of the year, giving out points that we didn't have to give yet. Kind of like the US government

For me, they were equals. And I would've gained more points if I would have joined the Shadow. There were 15 promised points at their side, and only 10 at the Light side. Only because of the difference of Locke's 25 already given points I joined the Light.

Meh, it doesn't really matter, points are easy to get. The difference between how many you can get from a faction is negligible compared to how many you can get from tasks that are faction neutral.
